i know was asking baggy shorts but i came across this one from performance.

it's only 40$ and they have the red small size in stock. sizing chart says small is 30-32. i buy 30 waist pants.

i can just wear something on top of it if i don't like how i look on it.

most of you recommend bibs. what's the differences between a bib and a tri suit? aside from the obvious difference on the top part.

think wet suit for diving but with no sleeves and cut at knees, thin neoprene material.

bibs are basically Lycra shorts with suspenderes

gah! i was i knew what a wet suit feels like. i can't swim and im afraid of sharks. lol

which one would be better for endurance rides? bibs or tri suits?

I'd say they're almost exactly like your bike shorts except the chamois pad inside of them is thinner, and they dry out fast after getting wet (swimming part of triathlon). Trisuits are basically the bib side of cycling but with the jersey part on and no sleeves. There is no neoprene-like material. Maybe 2nd guy is thinking of a speedsuit?

I used to wear cycling shorts but have changed exclusively to tri shorts. When I try on the one pair of cycling shorts I have it feels like I'm wearing a diaper. It's been relegated to 'emergency only' shorts~! I've done 60+ mile rides too.

TYR is located in Huntington Beach where I live. Twice a year they would have a parking lot sale. I used to go to those things and they would have mostly swim wear and just a limited amount of tri stuff. I bought that tri bib you're talking about. Very thin and designed to be worn tight. Not much padding.

Holy cow, I can just imagine going cycling in neoprene...I'd die after about a mile.

Not neoprene. Just a one piece designed to be tight, light, and quick to dry. Not at all convenient or particularly comfortable for general road biking. Imagine having to take a pee in them on the road....

OP, do yourself a favor and just buy a jersey and a standard pair of cycling shorts or bibs (they are "just" shorts with suspenders) with a standard road chamois. You will look fine, you will be comfortable, and best of all you will get a ton more function out of the std kit.

Tri suits have a much more minimalist padding, and are also very tight-fitting. They are NOT made of neoprene. Also, a lot of them have very limited pockets (given that tri geeks like to spend big bucks on aero bikes and then festoon them with bento boxes, attached bottles and all sorts of thingies).

Get bibs and a cycling jersey if you are doing road riding.

that is a big deal of being a pain when i need to pee.

I stand corrected, I definitely not thinking of a speedsuit, the one I was thinking of definitely was a thicker material than usual lycra spandex type bibs.
