Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Cervelo RS or Tarmac SL2 comp

Ok, I am torn. I am getting a new bike soon but can't decide between the RS or Tarmac SL2 comp. the RS has full Rival where the SL2 is full ultegra. The cervelo is 2600.00 and the Tarmac is 3000.00. Help me decide!

these bikes aren't that similar. the cervelo RS' intended use is more like what a specialized roubaix would be used for.

have you ridden them both? seems like you would've noticed the differences in rigidity/compliance, cornering ability, etc.

I would go with the RS because, well, I did. After some test rides, it was the bike for me. But what I like isn't really that useful for you to know. Surely, there must be bike shops around that will let you do some test rides?

I have the Tarmac SL2 frame. It's more speed-oriented than the RS. The ride is stiff, but not harsh. One can definitely feel the road under.

Unfortunately I did not get the discount but I am ok with that! I love it so far and still can't get over how much lighter and faster this bike fells than my other.

Nice looking ride. By the amount of spacers you have, the RS was probably the correct buy.

Ride the hell out of it!

I have ridden it twice now. Unfortunately only short rides. The wind has been blowing 20 mph the last two days so that has been pretty brutal. I didn't really care for the fi'zi:k saddle yesterday so I swapped it out for my toupe. I still have to make a few minor saddle adjustments to hit that sweet spot. I also had to adjust my speed plays cause they kept disengaging but they are all good now. I can't wait for some nice weather to really have some fun with it. The wind is going to be calm tomorrow but I have jury duty. Hopefully I don't get picked and I can get the afternoon to ride. Just from the two short rides I am amazed how light and nimble it is. I love it!

Awesome! Like I said I cant wait for some better weather. Hopefully I will go back to the bike shop tomorrow afternoon and let them make a few more adjustments on my positioning since I put the speed plays on and changed my seat. I think it is going to be an excellent bike and I absolutely love the look of the Fulcrum Racing 1 Tubeless wheels. I have never had tubeless before so we will see how it goes. Hopefull less flats in my future!

Having a giant picture of your bike as the signature is NOT cool.
