That's scary stuff and exactly why I always take endurolytes and salt sticks for long rides plus figure out where to fill up water on the way since I'm a mega heavy sweater..

The weirdest thing that happened to me was during a ride from Atlanta to Alpharetta: bunny-hopped over two possums rutting in the middle of the road. Didn't give it a second thought until a mile and a half later when my brain finally registered that I had just leaped over two effing possums.

Was following behind a herd of prancing deer running down Rt. 9 in Forked River, NJ. I got so caught up watching them run that I followed them right into the access road of a local nuclear plant. By the time I realized where I was going, I was stopped by two security vans, questioned and escorted off the premises.
They didn't care about the deer.

I saw what must have been a baby coyote last Saturday in Glendora... I stopped to watch him, but he was running along the street next to the golf course. Some lady was screeching at him, the pup was scared (IMO) and trying to get away. He tried to cut on to the golf course and bonked into the chainlink fence... tried again, bonked again. Kind of funny, but sad at the same time. he was about a mile south of his natural turf, I hope he found it.
My favorite ride activity involved blasting down some road and accidentally swallowing a large insect of some type. no idea what, that thing went straight down. I almost crashed from all the coughing.
Then there was the time I was riding home from work - it was about a 16 mile commute, I was on an old steel Bianchi and I caught up to some guy on a mountain bike so yeah, I passed him. And just so there was no doubt, I dialed it up to 40 watts, er, I mean 400 watts, as we rode up a hill. As I neared the top of the hill, victorious, I turned, only to see him ride by on his mountain bike in his cargo shorts with a back pack on and his freaking DRY CLEANING hanging from the strap of his back pack. "Thanks for the draft" quoth he as he rode off into the distance.
So yeah, that was a bit embarrassing. And yet weird at the same time on account of the whole dry cleaning thing.

Been stung a few times by bees/wasps, but the most unusual incident was on a ride outside of Detroit at the intersection of Ann Arbor Rd. and Ann Arbor Trail. I had just crossed Ann Arbor Rd., stopped to check my map, and started up again. Suddenly I saw something flash by my face and the bike was knocked out from under me. Glancing to my left I saw a car wheel hit the curb on the other side of the road and fly up in the air before bouncing off across a vacant lot. Then looking back at Ann Arbor Rd. there was a Chevy Vega sitting in the middle lane missing a rear wheel. The driver said he'd been going about 50 mph when the wheel fell off so that's probably about how fast it was going when it barely skimmed the top edge of my front bike tire. Amazingly the front wheel was only slightly out of true and I was able to continue my ride.

This morning- 6 cop cars pulling this lovely man out of somebody's back yard, while taking pictures of the fence and window sills. Gonna guess a burglary in progress. K-9 seemed pretty happy

Got passed by a gaggle of Harley riders on Skyline Drive through Shenandoah Nat'l Park... about 5 seconds after they passed me, I passed a huge black bear on the side of the road, just feet from me - which startled the crap out of me since my attention had been on the noise-makers. Moments later I crested the particular climb I was on and started descending... Just past the bottom of the descent on the ramp up the next climb, I saw all the Harley riders parked in a scenic pull-out so I stopped and asked if they had seen the enormous bear. Not one of them had seen it.
Hooray for being out in nature and not seeing any of it. ****ing midlife crisis motorcycle dorks.

Normally, I would say that wheels don't come off unless there's been neglected maintenence, which is the fault of the car's owner. But, normally doesn't apply when the car is a total POS, which is what a Chevy Vega was.

Drivers are definitely responsible for damage caused by anything that falls off their vehicle. Fortunately in that incident the only damage was easily fixed by fiddling with a spoke wrench for a few minutes.

Stung by a few bees, one on my gum (ouch!). Paced by a young hawk for a few miles maybe five feet above me. Paced by a bear and two cubs on a group ride (luckily I was not the slowest.) Watched a pair of F-16s do a low level in a canyon below me while climbing Ebbits pass in the Sierras. Seen coyotes, fox, turkeys, bobcats, and a calf being born.
Had a squirrel commit suicide by trying to jump through my back wheel, the bladed spokes won. What a mess to clean up though.

Not weird but very pleasant, while touring thru Mi. I slowly passed an Amish wagon. I said good morning and received big smiles and offered a big peach in return. The peach was delicious.

Years ago when I was a teenager, I met this beautiful girl while cycling on the other side of town, at an ice cream parlor. It was a very hot early August, Saturday afternoon. I was just standing by my bicycle eating my ice cream cone. There was this really gorgeous girl wearing red hot pants and a really tight red halter top. She had just arrived on her shiny new black ten speed bike. I was immediately attracted to both simultaneously. I watch her as she went into the parlor, ordered her ice cream, then came out and sat on a recently vacated bench. I slowly walked over to her, parked my bike next to hers, and began a conversation. I asked her where she was headed and she responded with, "I don't know... Where were you headed?"
We then just started to ride around a nearby park. We later went to one of her friend's house. By the time the evening rolled around, we had kissed and had already begun to make cycling plans for the following weekend. She then asked me to accompany her home which was just a few blocks away. On the way there, I asked her to tell me her last name. Her last name was shared by my current girlfriend. I therefore, asked her if she was related to a "Linda" in any way. She responded with, "Yes! I have a cousin named Linda!"
Well needless to say, I lost two really gorgeous girlfriends all in one day!
I should have noticed the familial resemblance...

Crashed when one of the blue angels flew over low and a sonic boom resulted. Had totally forgotten the air show was going on that weekend. Scared the living $hit out of me.

A couple of weeks ago when they were taking the Shuttle over to Johnson Space Center the engineers apparently figured something wrong. It was on the back of the truck stuck in the middle of the intersection. The city had to eventually call in crews to take down street lights and different crews to take the tops of trees off that they didnt account for either. Anyway pretty neat seeing it just sitting in the middle of the road like that with everyone trying to figure out what to do.

Last weekend, within the first 10 miles of my ride, I saw a raccoon in someone's yard, a black bunny rabbit in front of someone's yard and a 4' snake slithering across the road. The rabbit was really strange...I was about 20 feet away when I spotted it...it was jet black, standing on it's hind legs and on the outside of a chain link yard fence. It was standing stock still so I figured it was a statue...then as I drew next to it, it went down onto all fours and watched me ride by.
