Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Giro helmets?

Just got around to using my (new to me) Atmos helmet having bought it several months ago. I am coming from a Bell (not even sure of the model).

My ONLY complaint is that it seems very noisy (wind) compared to my prior helmet.

My questions are two: 1) Have any other users noticed this phenomenon? 2) Has anyone had both the Atmos and the new Aeon - and whether there is a noticeable difference in wind noise between the two?

Thanks in advance!

Giro helmets?

I use an Atmos. I haven't noticed any noise but I haven't used a Bell to compare it against.

I have an atmos--it is way noiser than my catlike whisper. My GF also has an atmos and used my catlike--she commented on how much quieter the catlike was than the atmos.

Much of the noise probably comes from the straps near your ears. Is there are way for you to adjust them to be a bit more out of the way?

just cut em off. they create a lot of drag. strapless helmets are more aero, therefor faster.

But every helmet I've ever had has straps near my ears.

Have Aeon, slightly noisy when coming down at 20+ mph. Lot less noisy on my Catlike Whisper Plus (I was rather surprised on first day of riding with it).

My Giro Advantage 2 TT helmet is really noisy. Don't care though as I only use it doing a TT. Noise=speed right?

Maybe I have hearing damage because I don't notice any wind noise with my Atmos. However, if I had to buy another helmet, I would buy something cheaper. I bought my wife a Bell mountain bike helmet from Costco for $20.00. She rides without the visor and has no complaints with it. The Bell is slighly heavier than my Atmos but has a very similar strap system.

I have the Ionos and it's noisy as ehll. It is an issue at the track as I cannot hear anything over the PA including me getting yelled at.
