they tend to wring as much drama as possible out of that show. i usually tear up at least once every year and by the end, i'm convinced i can do one too. then i come to my senses remembering how stupid that is. the real thing is way more boring.

i asked mr. ts what he thought about the whole thing a couple weeks ago. he was not outraged. he basically said "why would anyone do that? you're only cheating yourself. nobody else really cares how you do because unless you're a pro, or top age group contender, it's not a race, it's a personal accomplishment."

then he said "i'd be lying if i said i didn't think about cutting the swim after the first loop. that swim is #($@ing hard. no. wait, what am i saying, the whole thing is #@($@ing hard."

then there was a pause.

then he said "i want to do another one."

and then i facepalmed.

on a different note, is it bad to have a really low blood pressure? after my gym workout, my blood pressure fell to 80/51 and my heart rate was mid 50s. I felt geat but i have nevr seen such low blood pressure from me. my workout was 30 mins of bicycling, at a pretty easy pace. my heart rate was only 105-110 most of the time. then i did some weights for half an hour. seemed pretty light workout.

she is american and taiwanese. probably more american. if you speak to her you would think she was a new yorker.

i think i deserve some brownie points from the cycling gods. i persuaded a colleague to get seriously into cycling. tomorrow i am going with him to a bike shop to help him pick a road bike.
