People who organise group bike rides but then want to spend their time sitting in cafes drinking coffee and eating cake.
This is fine at a halfway point when we have all enjoyed a good ride out or maybe at the end but when they disrupt the ride causing the majority of riders to then turn round and go home when the objective of the ride hasnt been reached. The rider who had worked out the route and ridden a recce of it taking up a lot if his own time doing so was forced to finish it prematurely so as to take care of female riders who had yet another tantrum because they didnt get their coffee and chit chat. I know for sure if Birthday Ride is organised for me it will be called Ride Dont Sit In Cafes or Ride And Dont Whine! You either come out to ride or organise your own baby ride with coffee. Grrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!! Also we are all grown up adults ( I think) and we have eyes in our heads and brains, so we can see pedestrians, horses, dogs etc and dont need to have KEEP LEFT/RIGHT, DOGS, LOW BRIDGE, HILLS ETC bawled into our eardrums every 5 minutes. Oh yes it was sooo peaceful when four of us carried on the ride and the children went home :) |
^^ In my club, a ride like that would be listed/advertised as "social" with comments about breaks.
Generally, I think a good club ride has a 3-5 minute rest stop at the halfway point to eat a little, use the restroom, fill water bottles, and brief chit-chat...true socialization should be after the ride. |

As of right now I would say mine is zip ties that have not had the tag end trimmed off. If you are going to use zip ties (which I believe are indispensable pieces of equipment) CUT OFF THE TAG END don't just leave it flopping out there.

And save me from zip tied pump mounts on the top tube of an otherwise beautiful bike. Might as well be using duct tape. |
Right now it's the punk ass kids vandalizing the MUP I ride. I swear if I ever get ahold of them..

Novice bike riders who ride against traffic.

Not reading 31 pages, but I'm sure people have brought up random-wheelsucker-thinks-he's-racing-you guy? Heaven forbid I casually ride by someone just in a very nonchalant, and pleasant manner (by saying hi). That, for some reason, is basically like I spit in their mother's face, it offends some people so much. Then comes the uninvited, non-conversational wheelsucking by some dude whom I have no idea of their riding skill, because at some point, he's gonna fly by me and YEAH I WIN TAKE THAT PEW PEW!
And this is why climbing is such a beautiful thing. In climbing is truth. |

Potholes that have been there for over a year.

Riding your road bike in a busy small town street (you slowed down for safety reason), then you'd be chased by very young kids with their BMX bikes and cuts you off. They think that you are going to play with them. Worse is some will mock you because they will go faster than you, weave in and out in circles around you.

Traffic. Not at all an issue when I cruise down Garden of the Gods Rd. at 4:00 on a bike, but Holy Moses - on days when I must drive to work, the traffic is ridiculous. I may just be a developing curmudgeon, but the traffic patterns in this town may be managed by drunken monkeys. Lots of new construction, but how that new infrastructure affects existing traffic patterns seems to be an afterthought.

People that don't use blinkers (moreso when driving).
Red lights that are triggered by cars but not me on a bike. I run so many red lights, I swear. |

Have stops on the way just for a quick drink and for people to catch up then maybe half an hour at the Lake for snacks and coffee, toilet breaks etc. Our rides arent so fast that people cant chat on the way so there is no need to sit in a cafe and do it. Anyway isnt it better to stop and socialise while enjoying the achievement of completing a long maybe tough ride that to stop halfway when there is still a distance to go? |
riding through a swarm of bees or similar stingy insects.

People at work who send you an email, then, immediately after they sent you the email, walk over and proceed to tell you the exact same information in the email. That, or go out of the way to hunt you down and say "I sent you an email" and walk off, like you're suppose to drop what you're doing and rush to the nearest computer and check your email...I hate email because of that. I hate my cubicle...And the next person who touches my red Swingline 747 stapler is gonna get their teeth knocked out...

Off that topic... I hate "kinkless hoses" Thats BS, they cost much more and after a month they are just as bad as all the other cheap hoses. |
I hate that I just finished 31 pages of this thread and now have to go back to work.

When CalTrans closes all the onramps for one direction of the freeway within a mile radius. I want to go 5 miles home, but have to go 7-10 miles either taking side streets or to go down the freeway to get to an onramp that isn't closed.

Red lights that are triggered by cars but not me on a bike. I run so many red lights, I swear. The red lights were just addressed in the state legislature with a new law that allow you to proceed straight through or with a left turn after 90 seconds at a red light as long as other vehicles are not present. Yeah, 90 seconds. That's a good one!;) |
I should probably look at the rules in AZ, but I've ran through red lights with cops nearby and nothing yet.
It drives me nuts when the "walk" sign flashes to "do not walk" and then right back to "walk" again without the light changing at all. Now when I approach a red light, I come to a stop and if it's safe to go across, I gun it. |
People who use the 'Pet Peeve' thread for discussion.
