Ooooh, this is playing soon in the theatre downtown.

That looks cold. I'd rather watch people wither in the desert.

Nah, just saw a commercial for it and I was curious. I'm getting sick of spending $100 a month on dish.

Down here in Flori-duh, everything is backwards. The more south you go, the more north you get.

i haven't had paid tv in nearly a decade. every time i stay in a hotel with cable, i realize i'm not missing anything.

we do have a Netflix subscription, and recently tried the HuluPlus free week trial just to rewatch the second season of downton abbey, but i don't think i'll keep it.

So sweet (when he's sleeping).

we watch all of this through an apple tv by the way. we have a dumb tv. however, after seeing our friend's brand new expensive "smart tv" over the weekend, i think the cheaper combo of tv/apple tv suits us fine.

overall i wasn't really impressed with what they bought. it's got all the bells and whistles, and the new technology of interpolating the picture makes a lot of stuff look like cheaply made porn (aka "the soap opera effect"). it's also got 3D... which i think is dumb, and you can control it with a motion sensor, which didn't really work well and is super buggy depending on how much light is in the room.

The princess taking a nap as well.

We made a deal never to talk about that anymore. Remember guys....

"The IT Crowd", Season 1, Episode 2, "Calamity Jane". It has cycling related content, plus much much more

I got rid of Netflix a couple of years ago. I got it again (streaming) last winter and quickly noticed how bad the selection had gotten. If they still had Dexter I would certainly re-subscribe.

I used to have Netflix... got hooked on Dexter and was halfway through the second season when Netflix dropped it! ARGH!!! That was at the same time that they changed their pricing strategy. Thankfully, there still was a Blockbuster in business nearby that had them for rent.

I don't remember any deal. YOU may have made a decision, but I never agreed!

Don't worry, it won't last. It will be different next time.

it seems like things sort of come and go. i do wish it were more consistent and had better stuff. i've been crossing my fingers for game of thrones and boardwalk empire, but i'm not counting on it. i still have the full subscription so we can get dvd's too. The $15 or whatever is is per month is still better than paying for cable.

We only recommended that he avoid the drama. If he's still part of it, we'd love to hear of his adventures.

I have two redboxs within 1/2 mile of me. I'm hooked on those things.

LesterOfPuppets 01-03-13 02:35 PM

I quit Netflix in protest the minute they split physical/streaming.

I heard of a service kinda like Rabbit, but seemed more legit, on TWiT.tv a couple weeks ago. They basically have a buncha Roku-box-like devices in a server room and they charge you a monthly fee to access 'em.
