There are a few different ways of doing it. An easy way with flickr is to click on the 'Share' button above the pic. It'll drop down a couple options - select the size of the photo and select the 'BBCode' option. Copy the entirety of the code that populates the text box, paste it in the reply here. The only drawback to this is that this method does leave links back to the photo and your flickr account, so people can poke through whatever other photos you have there - just a question of how much privacy you want.

The other way is: in flickr, right click the image to bring up a dialog box with photo size options. Click on the one you want (I usually do the 1024 option) and it'll bring you to the appropriate photo. Right-click photo, select "copy image url [location]". Come back to BF, paste the copied url and manually type the img tags around the address, like so:

[img]http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8075/8387033959_dda8399dd3_c.jpg[/img]

and it'll give you this:

You're, uh, welcome.

...now all I need to do I show you how to adjust your exposure to compensate for your camera's desire to have the scene metered at an 18% gray level, which snow wreaks havoc with...

LesterOfPuppets 01-26-13 12:41 PM

Very nice RollNYC. I'm jealous of your brake calipers. Somehow I've wound up with nothing but stupid English style calipers.

And, yeah, gotta overexpose that snow, bro! :)

Could possibly fix that in Aviary (flickr's bare bones picture fixer).

WhyFi 01-26-13 12:46 PM

Here's a slight exposure adjustment (not working on a monitor that's even remotely calibrated, so just by histogram):

RollCNY 01-26-13 01:16 PM

Okay, playing badly in Aviary, what would I be adjusting: contrast, brightness, saturation? I don't seem to have an option that does what you did, after playing with all of them.

And I don't know if I like the gray bar tape yet. It is a "I do" and "I don't" kind of thing.

105 RD, FD, cassette, chain
DuraAce 10 speed downtube shifters - my first DuraAce part ever!
Brakes are stolen from the Felt Brougham single speed - that bike got blacked out- and they sparkle based on an easy application of Mother's Mag & Aluminum Polish
Bicycle Wheel Warehouse Pure Tour 32 spokes - stolen from flatbar bike
Stronglight 50/36 crank - made from Sugino crank forgings - also stolen from flatbar
Deda seatpost, stem, and compact handlebars, with a non-aero aero top

And saddle:
Originally had the Selle Italia in the parts bin, again off the Brougham. Then on Weds. found out that Specialized / or at least my LBS, approved a warranty replacement on my old Romin. I love the Romin's, but did not want red on the bike.

Nice. The Turbo looks more in keeping with the retro look, but you gotta go with what's comfortable.

WhyFi 01-26-13 01:26 PM

If there's no explicit "exposure" adjustment, I would think that "brightness" would be closest ("exposure" brightens everything by equal amounts within the photo, whereas "brightness" tends to brighten some tones but leave others alone). From looking at their support page, it looks like enough people have suggested an exposure adjustment that Aviary is looking in to it.

RollCNY 01-26-13 01:29 PM

The failed fork:

http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8053/8...309c4c38_z.jpg

http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8352/8...c9414924_z.jpg

I actually think that my fork may have had a defect. It is hard to see in the second photo, but there is a band of very shiny grains circling the break, about .090" deep. I actually think it might have been inappropriate plating penetration. Coupled with incredible forearm strength.

What, not oldtimey metal bottle cages?

So, was supposed to go out with this girl last weekend. Got lost, was too late, she bailed a minute before I got to the restaurant. Managed to wrangle a retry for last night. Had a great dinner, went back to her place for more champagne & white Russians (and insistence that sex wasn't happening). After drinks, watching Archer, sex did happen. So after that, spending the night, and again in the morning, she still didn't want to "be dating" because she doesn't feel she knows me well enough. And she had a date lined up with a guy she wasn't too into for tonight, and was going to cancel, but hadn't actually done it yet as of this morning.

Still, she seems to like me, was sad when I had to finally head off this morning, and we were really hitting it off. She claims to not like juggling guys (though it happens), and my inclination is to be a couple if you like each other that much. So, the cross between how she acted vs not wanting to be together officially makes my head hurt. She also insists not to worry about following any rules about waiting three days before calling, which is good since I was raised in a barn and don't have the head for those games.

Assuming noone has answered, I'll give you my Ann Landers:

You missed the first date, so the girl was probably upset / hurt/ a little pissed.

She got over it enough to give you a second chance, which sounds like it went swell. It didn't end with an uncomfortable, grab your clothes, run away, so I'm thinking you are all to the good side.

At this point, relax. She is probably right to say she doesn't know you well enough at the moment. I think you are doing good to go from jilting to tilting in a couple days. For you to say you "want to be a couple" after one date and one romp is speedy. I wouldn't sweat her having another date. If she wasn't too into it, and is having positive thoughts about you, a bad date will have her thoughts in your direction. You may get a post date phone call.

I used what I had in the bin, or more importantly, on the flatbar bike. I am going for the delicate balance between black and silver, but may have to go black tape.

The boys have nicknamed it "The Gray Ghost", which may have been a Scooby Doo villian.

LesterOfPuppets 01-26-13 01:39 PM

RollNYC, I'd probably go with a brown Spoon Charge on yer ride. Similar coloring to the Turbo but less bulky and more comfy, IMO. And only $26 down in Portland.

RollCNY 01-26-13 01:46 PM

Hey Lester, that was actually in my shopping cart a few times, as a bunch of the pieces came from Universal Cycles in Portland. I remember you mentioning that saddle awhile back.

And just Roll is fine, by the way. :D

What he said.

I think you're in a good spot, but try to be patient.

At least she's being direct about what her intentions are.

The humorless nature of many in amateur cycling is rather depressing, if utterly predictable.
