Idiots. Nobody understands the suffering bike weenie/artists of this world.

It's cute how you still have hope.

It's raining and we have a flood alert and its windier than crap. So, today's action plan is as follows:

Coffee shop with the boys this morning, followed by a lunch at a Chinese joint, followed by Netflix in front of the fireplace this afternoon.

The trainer can bite me.

Sounds good to me. My day is as follows: get up early, drive daughter to school for jazz band practice (she has to be there early so can't take the bus), work all day, come home and have a quick dinner, take daughter to evening class, go for an 8 mile run, hang out with the kids while the Mrs. goes to her oil painting class.

OTOH tomorrow is a 50 mile bike ride, weather permitting.

Try being a Cubs fan. I have been waiting to see a Cubs Series since my mom was 3.

I gave up gin many years ago when I...no I will not go into that one. I have tried many "good" scotches, single and blended, and I still prefer bourbon. To me it has a much smoother flavor and more character. I have not been a fan of Knob Creek, prefer Woodford Reserve as a "daily", though I have been drinking Buffalo Trace lately. Pappy Van Winkle 20 or 23 for those special occasions., if you can find it anymore.

You guys with your fancy drinks. It all tastes like gasoline to me....must be an acquired taste, one that I have not acquired....

For science

I would be happy to assist. I have a weakness for Blue. I have not had Double Black.

So I was considering putting a set of aero bars on my road bike.

Has anyone tried this for TT's/Tri's?? I know the geometry of a true TT bike is different, so it's clearly not an ideal set-up....I am wondering if the clip-ons will buy me some speed over the drops.

Good idea? Bad idea?

Herbie53 01-29-13 08:13 AM

I do not understand all the hate for riding indoors. IME it's like mainlining endorphins.

Probably not healthy to do it all the time, but a good ride none the less.

Rode 750 miles to Dallas on a roadified MTB with aero bars (like Ride the Divide - see it on Netflix). Are you going to be doing some distance riding?

I did a 50 mile ride today. I reckon it will raise my HDL for my blood test day after tomorrow.

I never could distinguish whiskys. I like whisky JD and coke.

Datlas. I did that two years ago when I did my first race. I hated it. If you want mine, pm me your address and I'll send them to you. I'll never use them again.

I mimic this position by resting my forearms on the tops. It isn't very confidence inspiring, but if there isn't a lot of wind, getting in that position seems to gain about 2-3mph on average without changing effort. So yes it should gain you some speed over being in the drops. I also run a lot of drop on my road bike, much like TT bikes are designed. So that might have something to do with how well it works for me. Also having my flat tops of my Vukas make a decent base to rest my forearms on, but clearly clip-ons would be a lot more stable. I kinda like this idea:

Two Lombardis in a handful of years. I'd rather have mediocre years punctuated by world championships than eternal crushed hope like oh, say, the Falcons. 13-3! We rock! ...oops, one and done, see you in September. Every year.

Yes I know they won one this year. Yippee for them.

Sure enough, it all melted today. Then the wet concrete refroze after the sun went down which I discovered when I landed on my ass going to get the mail. Now we're under a thunderstorm watch, and it's supposed to be 60º tomorrow. Wednesday we're back to freezing and possible snow.

:twitchy:

I skated to the end of my driveway while putting out the trash this morning. Weeeeee!

No distance rides. Most rides are club rides of 50-100 miles. But I am doing a few tri's this year and would use the aero bars just for those events.

One of my brothers was a bourbon drinker in his youth. He used to buy Jim Beam by the gallon.

Despite the stigma, they do help in that application.

In the State of the State address yesterday the governor said he is a bike rider.

I bet I can drop him.
