Nice! I love those Vittorias btw. It's likely all I will ride from here on out.
Nice huh? I just started riding some diamante' pro's . Slightly fewer threads per inch than the corsa's, but way better than my old tyres. very smooth, very subtle ride. |

This bike emerges to log many of the miles this year, I think. Zinn calls it eggplant. I call it ugly. They were all eggplant that year.
Eurus wheels, 26.0 Deda Newton and 215s instead. Chorus 10. Stiff and fast and ugly. http://i588.photobucket.com/albums/s...5/IMG_0800.jpg |
If you want a black bike, make it black. Not egplant

I agree.

So, not fer button, but I don't get why SA's bike is hot. It reminds me of the Spinal Tap album: "How much more black could this cover be? None more black."

Decades ago I was 2manymotorcycles. I loaned a friend my bright red Rickman dirt bike, and I rode a quieter. sort of neutral color bike. We have dirt roads here that go under the power cables for the maintenance trucks. They are like a dirt bike highway system. In many places the cables and the path/road would go through farm fields. We came to a place where there was a double S curve, with huge bolders blocking your view of the road ahead. I was leading the way. As I passed through the last curve and could see the field, the road went right between two HUGE bulls. They had rings in their noses and a short chain to a spike in the ground.
I had to go right between them so I went fast. After passing them I looked back and one of the bulls was right in the middle of the road. At that instant he was all four feet in the air and swinging the stake pulled from the ground around like a mace. A fraction of a second before my friend rounded the last boulder. It was a relatively easy to ride, smooth, road, we were going maybe 40 mph. I could only glance back for a second, I had to watch where I was going. All of a sudden the sound of a super race tuned 125cc Zundapp 2 stroke (the engine on the Rickman) going 12,000 rpm at full throttle blocked out everything. If I was going 40 mph, my friend passed me at least at 60 mph, on a dirt road. He hit some bumps, went five feet in the air under complete control, and kept on going, like it was a highway. I have never been able to duplicate that speed on dirt roads with far more sophisticated bikes, ever. Neither has my friend. Until that instant it always seemed like I was a lot better rider. Apparently it was only a question of motivation. That was in the late 1970's. I can picture that bull right now as if it just happened. They destroyed a fence and gate along the way. The guy in charge of them attempted to break them apart, but gave up and said: "Just let them go, they'll sort it out". It was an incredible demonstration of power. The young bull lost and was relegated to the far paddock away from all the cows for six months. Machka and I never trusted the bulls in the paddocks when we had to get to and from our temporary home in the "Love Shack" on that property. Especially when they started kicking the ground with a front hoof... |

Thank you gentlemen. I had just cleaned the old beater up, and fitted carbon brake pads back on, and fit the Spinergys back on it. I can't ride those damn Rolf anymore unless it is on the trainer.
Actually only the seatpost, stem, tires, and bartape are black. Everything else is raw carbon, titanium, or anodized red, or polished aluminum. ;) It's an improvement from it's old garish USPS days, no? Old pic for reference: http://crxbart.com/cycling/lateaprilbikes4.jpg Yeah, I started riding road bikes on Krylions. Those tires suck. Then I got some Kenda Kaliente Pros. The first set was nice, but the second set fell apart faster than my relationship with the devil in the pink v neck. The Vittorias on the other hand. They are amazing. The grip, the ride, just amazing. So far they have lasted pretty good too. I'd be hard pressed to even think about trying another set of tires. Totally loving the Evos. Oh yeah, I raced the Zipp Tangentes for a season. They rode like crap compared to the Vittorias too, which is strange because Vittoria made them. Yeah, it looks way better in natural carbon. I rode a stream of Hutchinson Top Speeds, somewhere along the way they started making them different, I didnt like them after that. The Cheng Chins (CTS Ultra Speeds) I was getting from florida are a wonderful balance of flat protection, kevlar belt, ride and handling, but he hasnt had them for a while in black. So I decided to use this as an excuse to try something else. The Diamontes are close in price, better feel and ride. Flat protection is yet to be seen. light 190 grams. I think they are 220 tpi, way better than the 60 tpi I am used to. I ahve had two rides on them outside and they absolutely fly at 130 psi. |

Not disagreeing with part of what you're saying..If I were him, I'd pencil a nice check to everyone he wronged , IF, it cost them money, and without lawyers involved skimming off their share. I have to give him time served though for the good that was done through his foundation which was enormus. Let him make his amends, and get back to living a perfect life, like all the stone throwers. It's so easy to drive a boot into someone when they're down and out...Ironically the 6th month suspensions for all the other dopers who were along for the good times, is laughable. Lance Armstrong wasn't their daddy..Give them all equal punishment!
Good one. |

So Soloist Assassin, I actually like the naked carbon, and I think it is much sharper than original. Just seems like lots of all black bikes are the ones everyone goes crazy for. I think too much black gets a tad overwhelming.
In ordering parts for the new bike, I was worried black stem, bars, hoods, levers, and tape would be too much, so I interjected some variety. When the postal service resumes, I will get my parts and post photos. Then you can all tell me to go back to black. |
WattsUp is running a Computrainer race series. I've been mostly off the bike for a month, but what the hell; suffering is suffering.
Tonight was an uphill time trial 21 km long. We had to weigh in before starting so the Computrainer could properly punish those of us cut to heroic proportions. Not only do I suck, I somehow managed to flat. On a friggin' TRAINER. DFL and the fun of cranking the last 2 km while everybody else stands and watches. Oh, the joy that is my life. But I got the Stealth to pass emissions this weekend, so that is one bright spot. DG |
