LesterOfPuppets 01-21-13 09:48 PM

Here I was thinking about how I'd just completed a very stupid day of riding, then I read recce's account...

Tonight was an uphill time trial 21 km long. We had to weigh in before starting so the Computrainer could properly punish those of us cut to heroic proportions.

Not only do I suck, I somehow managed to flat. On a friggin' TRAINER. DFL and the fun of cranking the last 2 km while everybody else stands and watches.

Oh, the joy that is my life.

But I got the Stealth to pass emissions this weekend, so that is one bright spot.

DG

Glad im not you. Then again not many would want to be me. Except me.

Would you rather attend the festivities at a U.S. inauguration or a British royale wedding?

That wasn't the question.

Not sure which pope I would rather see. I am not Catholic.

It's -20° right now... not including wind chill. I'm becoming less of a fan of this "let's move back to MN" idea.

patentcad 01-21-13 10:33 PM

It's cold here, but sub zero it is not.

patentcad 01-21-13 10:34 PM

I did write another song tonight. Nice music. The lyrics may take a while on this one.

Maybe for some of you imbeciles. Grammar never takes a holiday for those of us who treasure a modicum of competence in our personal communications.

patentcad 01-22-13 04:11 AM

I'm going back to sleep. Don't bother me now.

rangerdavid 01-22-13 04:44 AM

Yeah, it looks way better in natural carbon.

I rode a stream of Hutchinson Top Speeds, somewhere along the way they started making them different, I didnt like them after that. The Cheng Chins (CTS Ultra Speeds) I was getting from florida are a wonderful balance of flat protection, kevlar belt, ride and handling, but he hasnt had them for a while in black. So I decided to use this as an excuse to try something else. The Diamontes are close in price, better feel and ride. Flat protection is yet to be seen. light 190 grams. I think they are 220 tpi, way better than the 60 tpi I am used to. I ahve had two rides on them outside and they absolutely fly at 130 psi.

Glad you like it better. 130psi? Holy crap! I only run like 95psi in my Evos. I ran around 130psi once just to see what it road like, and it was like I was riding on a solid tire. I can't say I liked it at all. Maybe it's because I am only 145lbs. I actually used to run 110psi, but I dropped it down since I lost a few pounds. It helps with traction while climbing a lot. I used to loose traction on steep climbs, but dropping the pressure helped. I also noticed more grip in the turns.

Why the silver spokes?

They are white actually. I would have preferred black, but I purchased them used for cheap.

So Soloist Assassin, I actually like the naked carbon, and I think it is much sharper than original. Just seems like lots of all black bikes are the ones everyone goes crazy for. I think too much black gets a tad overwhelming.

In ordering parts for the new bike, I was worried black stem, bars, hoods, levers, and tape would be too much, so I interjected some variety. When the postal service resumes, I will get my parts and post photos. Then you can all tell me to go back to black.

I used to be the same way. I liked the white of the Trek at first. Then I rode it, and it got dirty. White shows everything. I also used to like the red of my SLC, but then it was replaced under warranty for the S2, and the black really grew on me. Black, and Raw carbon hide the dirt better, and it allows me to be more lazy when it comes to cleaning my bikes. I still clean them, but not fanatically after every ride like I used to. That got old.

That is a crappy day. I'm still trying to grasp the flatting on the trainer thing. That blows.

4.5 degrees here, or -15.3 for the metric inclined. I am thinking a leg press workout is in order before my payroll meeting this morning.

Actually only the seatpost, stem, tires, and bartape are black. Everything else is raw carbon, titanium, or anodized red, or polished aluminum. ;) It's an improvement from it's old garish USPS days, no? Old pic for reference:

Yeah, I started riding road bikes on Krylions. Those tires suck. Then I got some Kenda Kaliente Pros. The first set was nice, but the second set fell apart faster than my relationship with the devil in the pink v neck. The Vittorias on the other hand. They are amazing. The grip, the ride, just amazing. So far they have lasted pretty good too. I'd be hard pressed to even think about trying another set of tires. Totally loving the Evos. Oh yeah, I raced the Zipp Tangentes for a season. They rode like crap compared to the Vittorias too, which is strange because Vittoria made them.

I had a set of Tangentes on my Zipp 404 tubulars a few years back. I kept them on for about three or four races before they found the trash bin. They were the worst tires I have ever ridden. I'm not sure but my tt wheels may have Tangentes on them now, if so they are much better than the first set I had.
