Seven months. Still another fortnight in Western Australia.

I don't think any part of the Australian continent has ever reached -40 deg F/C. Even on the highest mountains.

So yes, the winters are a bit better than just about anywhere across the northern part of the North American continent.

Still :roflmao2: about the San Diegans crying about the cold, though.

Several of my friends emigrated to Australia. They love it.

Seven months is a lot of time to be gone from home.

This song is about all of us.

I don’t do it for a random Facebook Like
I don’t do it for the girls at open mic
I don’t do it cause I’m trying to make a name
I don’t do it for the fortune and the fame
If you really must ask why
I do it for the songs that make me cry

I don’t do it cause I think I might get paid
I don’t do it on the chance that I’ll get laid
I don’t do it so they’ll let me in the band
I don’t do it so you’ll all give me a hand
If you wonder why I try
I do it for the songs that make me cry

Make me cry, make me cry
Make me cry, make me cry

They keep us when we’re lonley
They help us when we’re sad
They work us through the hard times
They save us when we’re bad

I do it cause there is no other way
I do it while I find the words to say
I do it so we’ll find some common ground
I do it while I try to find my sound
How will all of us get by
We’ll do it with the songs that make us cry

Make us cry, make us cry
Make us cry, make us cry

Some of my bad bass riffage finally hit the youtube. Play loud!

Yeah, Australia is great until they kick you out of the band and your marriage hits the rocks.

Happens every time. And then you can't even afford $2K for the coach fare back to JFK.

It still is very entertaining when a non cyclist finds out I am half way into a 42 miles ride in the dark and about 35-32 F temp. A good laugh. The first thing she said was "It' dark !". It was at least an hour after sunset. Then "It's cold!". Then in the very rural area, " there's nothing out there". Duh...I was at a convenience store..!!
The best part was when I proved to her that I really do have a brighter headlight than her car.

I was thinking you are one of the more sane women. I contribute it to your outlet racing motorcycles, and riding bikes that keeps you level headed. I think we all need hobbies to keep us sane. Too many women I know, don't have hobbies other than being a royal pain in the ass of members of the opposite sex. That's how I see it anyway. Maybe I am wrong on this, but it seems like a valid observation.

I know what you're all saying, 'Pcad, I have a whole Broadway musical score all ready to go, will you write the lyrics for me please?'

night riding rocks. well, except when the stray dogs get together in packs and watch me ride towards them, licking their lips.

Oh no...the Australia criminal jokes have started. The funniest one I heard was from when Ian Botham went there on a cricket test match tour. I think he was asked if he had a criminal record at immigration and he said he didn't think it was still obligatory.

No one favourite, but the highlights and the places we want to go back to visit are:

Hokkaido (the northern large island of Japan that is simply beautiful from what we saw)
Taiwan (the east coast and into the mountains)
France (especially the west coast beaches, but we also like Paris)
Switzerland and the Alps (although the place is hugely expensive)
Scotland (coz it's my heritage, and we love the sparse population)
The US (yep, we saw some amazing stuff, particularly Colorado Monument, Pikes Peak, Moab, Arches National Park, Grand Canyon, and the best of the lot in my estimation, Bryce Canyon with the absolutely amazing Hoodoos; we also had a great time catching up with BF friends right the way through to Florida and Louisiana).
Canada (the Rockies are like coming home for me after seeing them for the first time in 2005).

We spent six weeks driving north-south across the US and got to do a lot of touristy stuff. It was all good, and the best part is that the Aussie dollar is quite strong against the Greenback, so it was also value for money. Now we've got to go back to the rip-off merchants in Australia.

We want to visit some places again, and see more. It's that pesky having to work for a living that gets in the way. ;)

Took the words right out of my mouth.

Here's one for you dog owners. Are dogs night feeders in nature? I know sharks are and if dogs are then my night riding could be very dangerous. Lots of stray dogs along the mup here and I love night riding because the mup is deserted at night and I can dial it up.

For future reference, if you ever come across a female with a closet full of shoes, another full of coats, and jackets, two closets full of clothes, and four dressers full of clothes run far away, leave no trace, and never go back. It's a definite warning sign for sure.
