Yep, it's been a huge wake up call. Heartbreak matters very little when you are being handcuffed, and the possibility of loosing your job is on the line.

I seek no sympathy. Please keep in mind prior to September, I drank maybe 6 beers all year. I am not a drunk, I don't even like drinking. I've been making poor decisions lately based on lack of sleep, and being exhausted all the time as a result of stress based insomnia. That day was full of them leading up to the DUI charge. It started out. I had to change the clutch master cylinder in my car, and that turned into a cluster fark. As it turns out the master cylinder was not the right one in any way shape or form. I had already waited a week for it, and I didn't find this out until my car was torn apart in my buddy's shop. So I made it work. I had to fabricate a part to make it work, but I made it work. Then the system didn't want to bleed. So what should of been a 30min-1hr job turned into a 3hr job. I ended up skipping dinner due to this, because I had plans to watch my uncle play his guitar in a local bar with some friends, and I made it there, but a bit late. Had a few beers there, and then we went to two other bars after he was done. I only had 5 beers total in a 5hr period. I didn't think I was that drunk, I was just causally drinking with some friends. I think the problem was skipping diner, and drinking on an empty stomach. I only blew a .116, the legal limit is .08. I don't even usually go to bars or anything, this is completely out of my mo. Sometimes I would watch my uncle play guitar, but I normally would not go to other bars after.

In Colorado, driving under suspension/revocation when the basis for the suspension is an alcohol related driving offense is a mandatory 30 days jail (two year max). Ohio will have something similar.

You'll go to jail. You'll owe your attorney another retainer. You'll lose your DL for a longer period. You'll be one strike closer to habitual traffic offender status.

Yeah, I know. It really is not worth it. I have not had a traffic ticket for anything in over 5yrs, and never anything of this level, just speeding, and what not.

That's where I stand on this and as far as I will go.

He's agreeing with you.

I crashed with carbon bars real hard once. Broke my collarbone, and my helmet. My handlebars are still fine to this day. I ended up with a mild concussion as well. Had I had no helmet, I might have been killed. Those abrasions on my head were from the helmet that was destroyed. It did it's job spreading out the impact, and keeping me alive. The day before I won that State Championship RR medal I am brandishing.

Had me a little incident this morning. Published the details in the appropriate helmet thread du jour. Helmet=win. Anything aside from carbon fork and I am not playing. Fork even has to be alloy steerer.

Sam is in for a biopsy today of a stomach mass. 50-50 it's benign, operable, or malignant and it's curtains.

Man it's going to be so hard saying goodbye to Sam whenever it happens. He just turned 10.

And I'm a morning person too.

I have broken two helmets with my head. The frame/component material debate is silly.

It all breaks.

Good luck to Sam... and you as well. Hope it all turns out ok.

Best wishes, prayers and good luck for Sam.

He has had about as happy a life as a dog can possibly ever have. And we have been so blessed to be along for the ride. I hope it continues a few more years.

coasting 01-08-13 09:28 AM

What a downer. If Sam kicks the bucket, it would be a greater loss than Pcad doing so. No offence.

That is honestly the case, Pcad. You have to consider the punch in the gut of losing a friend, a small price to pay for the time they gave you. Either way, this part totally sucks, and sending good thoughts your way.

I hope so too.

Thank you Addiction.

If you're spiritual, light a candle or say a prayer for Sam today. Or if you're Solo, sacrifice a chicken to your heathen gun nut god.

coasting 01-08-13 09:52 AM

Spiritual...I think the older I get the more I wish there was more than this ****ty life.

Logic says... if you feel that way, you're not doing enough here in this life.
