Why would anybody collect bicycles?

I mean go figure.

surgeonstone 02-11-13 05:43 PM

Proposition. For all of us running afoul of the Holy See's edicts, punishment.
Depending on the severity, days to be specified by his Holiness, the requirement to be seen publicly riding in this http://www.podiumcycling.com/cycling...erman-skinsuit outfit, documented and posted here for posterities sake.

I must say that I also like "my assembly of bikes", for the multiple meanings. But I know it isn't simple.

And your Popedness, I meant collection in the having more than one sense, and not the "don't take Han Solo out of the original packaging" sense.

Same reason folks collect guitars?

Am I the only one in Addiction who still only has one bike?

No clue, but I would wager that you are the only one who finds running and swimming superior to cycling. Or maybe that's just a WAG on my part.

Three feet of snow, and now raining and melting, super foggy. The roads are underwater, and narrow, because if all the snow. Another day of melting then cold and more snow. All my frozen food melted when the power went out. Threw out a full freezer full of food. Restocked the freezer today, and bought a generator. yuck. The roads are such a mess the dog won't even go for a walk. It's cold and soaking wet. No riding right now. Did not think of conditions like this. Thought I could ride on frozen ice and snow. *&%$#@##$%^%^

No, you're probably right on that one.

I only have one bike that I ride. I also have my old 10 speed from my youth, but haven't been on it in ages.

That sounds dumb. Big surprise.

Why didn't you set the food out in the cold while the power was out?

Rowan 02-11-13 06:21 PM

Happiness is getting a new job. I am back into orcharding -- specifically cherries with the biggest and best grower in the region. The business, for me and some unfathomable reason, is one I thoroughly enjoy. Must be the physical labour and watching nature's uncanny ability to renew every year to produce a really nice crop.

The pay isn't brilliant, but I can forget about work when I go out the gate, it's steady, has benefits, and gets me working outdoors.

Start work Thursday, so I am on early morning alarms again instead of lazing around. WooHoo!

There wasn't room after all the beer was put in the snow.

No you are not. I have a 2004 Merlin Lunaris with Campy Record 10 speed. The only bike i need or want. My prior bike is still around, a 1976 Freschi by an Italian frame builder. I rode that for 34 years and decided to see how far bikes had progressed in that time. I kept it for my boys to ride and as a back up bike in case of primary bike failure.

Dannihilator 02-11-13 07:16 PM

Foggy 50 miles today.

Bah Humbug 02-11-13 07:58 PM

Sore throat. No riding, or swimming, or running today. Probably tomorrow. Grumble.

Oh, I lust for several, but I have trouble picking one I like enough to commit to it. And I'd love a tri bike, but when I tried clip-ons on my S1, I turned into the worst wobbly triathlete you've ever seen (as in, unable to ride them for more than a few seconds before needing to get out or crash), so I don't know if one of those is feasible. I'd like a non-aero road bike, but I don't like any of the CAAD builds for their price, and am not comfortable installing a BB30 crankset. And on it goes, with me ruminating and riding my S1.

My wife could sit in a cherry tree and eat until she died. A little pathetic. She simply can't stop. Being the addict I am should allow some understanding but hell, she doesn't even get a buzz out of it. Or does she?
Anyway, when harvest comes around let me know, I'll ship her down under.

I have two, but the other is a winter beater and doesn't count.

Were I to need a new bike from some tragic accident it would have to have beauty as well as style, some of that old world beauty from times past yet still modern, fast, light weight. None of that fugly s5 crap his popeness lusts after. No , me thinks it would be something like this recently reviewed "best bike in the world"....http://www.cannondale.com/2013/bikes...ouble-crankset

truckstop 02-11-13 09:06 PM

I tend to call our collections of bikes "the herd".
