rjones, I was really wishing I'd gotten yak trax this weekend. Managed to not fall on the ice, which was good given I was carrying around a $1,700 lens on a $1,400 camera body. (Neither of which were mine.) also had pockets full of go pros and a small handheld video camera.

Obviously I didn't fall through the ice either. I'm sure you were all terribly worried. Ice was thick and the lake we were on was frozen all the way across. It was however a little unnerving every time the two plow trucks came out to clear the snow dust away and you could hear the ice creaking under you.

why? just curious.

Disenchanted with SRAM, don't like the FSA cranks they put on the Shimano builds, don't like the narrow rims, brakes, all that.

I'll be joining Jeremy for a couple of acoustic numbers at his gig tomorrow night in Warwick. We'll play 'Willin' and 'Know You Rider'. I can play both of those songs after a case of beer and an eight ball of blow, but it will be easier clean and sober. And more on key of course. I sing lead, he backs me up with harmonies. He plays the guitar leads. I hammer strum. That's easier.

No, collecting guitars is reasonable. Guitars are cool. Bicycles are skullfarked. Also, guitars (particularly collectible guitars purchased right) do tend to hold value and actually appreciate.

I have 5 electrics and an acoustic, but I don't collect them, I play them. All of them.

How is that obvious?

They each have their use. I have a number of bikes, and ride them all. Collect? Not really, but some may say so.

I keep trying to figure out a way to make an I.D. out of a taco. It just isn't working. I think Florida Man drinks his bath water.

Guitars are weird pieces of wood. Bikes are cool.

1. https://www.yaktrax.com/
2. I meant to say "didn't fall through the ice and die"
3. Thank you.

You are dead to me now.

truckstop 02-11-13 10:39 PM

I've been noticing increased frequency of acid reflux/heartburn myself.

I had it all day today after eating a bagel for breakfast leaving a hotel. Makes me think it was wise to cut out gluten. Oh, and restrictive diets while traveling in the middle of nowhere? Blows. I'm so glad I'm doing it by choice and not necessity.

I wonder what I would do if I were ever someplace with the opportunity to order a bag full of octopi. I'm not really a fan. Too chewy.

Velo Vol 02-11-13 10:40 PM

Which is the better way to go? Falling through ice or nuclear annihilation?

Velo Vol 02-11-13 10:43 PM

coasting and Rowan will be some of the first to go.

truckstop 02-11-13 10:43 PM

Are school kids going to have to start hiding under desks again?

Stuff yourself full of chicken (while claiming to be vegan) and then blame it on walking.

I mean go figure.

We're all getting old. Sad.

When my marathon running cousin said he had terrible reflux, I was less than sympathetic. My response was thank god it's not just me.

I have one of each; on-road and off-road.

No you are not. I have a 2004 Merlin Lunaris with Campy Record 10 speed. The only bike i need or want. My prior bike is still around, a 1976 Freschi by an Italian frame builder. I rode that for 34 years and decided to see how far bikes had progressed in that time. I kept it for my boys to ride and as a back up bike in case of primary bike failure.

Neither are you.

Playing a guitar can get you laid. Riding a bike can get you a beer bottle upside the head.

Good job not falling.

Are your pics of the event gonna show up somewhere?
