New song.

Cold Spring Line

The train rolled out in darkness

The Hudson on our right

The hills were looming darkly

In the waning hours of night

Somewhere south of Beacon

The sun began to rise

I caught a glimpse of sadness

In her eyes ... We were ridin on the Cold Spring Line

Cold Spring Line

The city pulled us closer

Like moths go to a flame

The rain was falling harder

Like a coda to our pain

Somewhere north of Peekskill

We both knew we were through

It came ahead of schedule

Overdue ... over on the Cold Spring Line

Cold Spring Line

Hudson Valley

Brilliant light

Painter’s canvas

River’s might

Holds a sadness

Haunts our lives

Ridin on the Cold Spring Line

Cold Spring Line

There’s a price for aching beauty

The bill is always due

It’s a picture perfect postcard

That holds its spell on you

Somewhere on the River

An echo cries for you

And if you’re there to hear it

Clear and high

You’ll be ridin on the Cold Spring Line

Cold Spring Line

Anxiously awaiting youtube vid shot in the pcad lair.

Here's the highwater mark for train tunes, IMO.

Not commuter trains. That would be this song:

That trio may have had the best harmonies/vocals I've ever heard. That video/audio quality is awful. Some great songwriting as well.

Saw them live twice. They are from Park Ridge, NJ, I used to live in the next town.

I can't really comment objectively until you post a video of you actually singing it...

I say slow the vocals down just a touch and quiet The guitar down just a notch. The vocals actually sound pretty darn good surprisingly!

I could definitely sit down and drink a beer or two and eat some chicken wings to that music. Well done!

coasting 02-10-13 09:03 AM

What am I going to do? I spent the last 2 days overeating (holiday season here) and I agreed to do a 10 am ride tomorrow morning. Luckily only with a couple of freds.

Calm down. You're making me all verklempt fatso.

patentcad 02-10-13 09:06 AM

I am actually quite happy with that song. I've been playing around with those chord change/lyric ideas for a couple of weeks. Sometimes you just have to sit down and finalize it and see how it turns out.

Take into consideration that I'd rather walk on hot coals than pay you a compliment....;)

I say you should be a cross-over artist and go into Appalachian music.

coasting 02-10-13 09:21 AM

Whoosh is a good person. If it ever comes to blows between pcad and him, I'm cheering for velo vol.

coasting 02-10-13 09:22 AM

By the way, I got another compliment about my enormous muscley legs again. Cycling is making my legs really big.
