Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I followed a friend down a local decent recently who was riding zipps, I actually dropped back because the burning smell coming off his brakes made me wonder if he would make the bottom.

Your Enve's are newer and maybe a different resin or brake compound, I'd like to hear how they hold up to some real braking abuse.

Gotta say they look great by the way

thank you. I'm excited about them for sure! We have a hill that we climb and descent which is 2.3 miles and lots of curves. I myself am interested to see how these wheels will feel (or smell) going down. I hit the descents, but I never take chances. I try to stay off the brakes but if i have to brake I try to pulse and not stay on to long. I'll review back when I get some more rides in.

Not for now. I have already posted this wheelset on my bike. I will take more photo's of the enve's like I did with the C2's for personal keeping and probably on this thread, but not gonna post in HoN.

I'm curious, why carbon clinchers instead of carbon tubulars?
I bet Jude would have arranged it if you had asked.

You could have had Aero + Lightest + Strong + Safer,
but instead wound up with Aero + Heavy + Even More Expensive to Fix (+$100 over the 45 tubular) + Dangerous when flatted (tire can come off the rim)

I realize you got a Deal on the set, but there is a disconnect on feature set.

this has been a VERY entertaining thread (in a good way), one for the record books here.

glad you got the nice wheels B10, those are super sweet!!! my wife would have divorced my ass over that purchase, hell, she had a fit over me buying a pair of Merrell low cut walking/hiking shoes, lol

ya know, I bet you could order a set of different colored hubs and have the wheels relaced and sell off the red hubs, just sayin!!!! maybe pick up those mango CK hubs??

Nice set of wheels bianchi . But did you try the mavic aksium or the reynolds assault? I think they would complete your bike quite well.

Why don't we just throw some Weinmanns on it and call it a day?

Why not? I was also thinking about the rovals which were used on specialized race bikes

Guys, there were budgetary limitations. The carbon offering was a discounted demo set. Not everyone has the means for Mavic Aksiums or Weinmanns. Remember, b10 did not feel like he could sell his daughter to fund the upgrade (after giving it some serious thought).

Joking aside, I'm wondering if 'georges1' meant carbones and was asking if b10 had tried any other carbon wheels (Reynolds)?

Valid question (I guess), though I don't know of a similar testing program for several carbon wheelsets.

bianchi10- the ENVES are great wheels and for what you paid, even a better deal. They brake quite well in the rain; when I had my 65s, I was caught up in several downpours and not once did I second guess the wheels not stopping when needed to. Enjoy the ENVEs.

Hey B10, how you like your evo with that tilt ? Looks a little high but if it works it works. Just switched to one and playing with the tilt, bike looks great.

Was told from people at my bike shop that it works best if tilted up just a little. I found that they were correct. Flat was comfortable but left me chafing a little bit. Tilting up a smidge helped. It doesn't look as cool that way but it is more comfortable.

Same with Toupe's. I think Specialized saddles like to point up a degree or two.
