Just so you know, your little private secret messages can only be read by you.

I'm hoping to finish a 200K and a 300K by the end of the summer.

Then again, any guy who has gone through 5 weddings should be institutionalized.

Maybe it's a signal to a sleeper sock?

truckstop 03-19-13 02:13 PM

i'm not sure either, but that's almost, but not quite the distances of an ironman, if the "s" just stands for swim.

They do it, or at least some fraction of it, for the medal.

I know I have 300km in me, within daylight hours, as I did 150 miles last year with a fairly full backpack, and the worst part of that was the unplanned car impact at mile 108. But there is no way I get 400 km without extended night time hours.

There are two groups that I have found within a few hours drive, so I will start pinging them on what I need to do to enlist. Where I know I will never race, the long distance stuff is my bowl of gravy.

The 400K's here started at 4 am, so the only lighting needed was the 2 hours in the am. That said, ours were front loaded with climbing at about 10,000 feet in the first 80 miles. Once you got that nonsense out of the way, it was clear sailing, and Hostess Snowballs after 200 miles. 15-16 hours, depending on my mood. I will say, I didn't ride a typical Rando bike though. Last weekend, I raced the same bike I did my Brevet's on. I didn't haul the whole house with me either. Over 300K, I would bring 3 tubes, instead of 2, and an extra CO2 cartridge. So, how you choose to do these rides will dictate the lighting, and equipment you bring along.

bummed that the disc with the xrays on it that they gave me wont open on a mac. meh.

That sounds like good news, ts?

Is it just me, or do Delta Dawn and Fat Bottomed Girls sound musically similar in parts? Sing it to yourself, you'll see.

Helen Reddy got there first. Or was it Tanya Tucker?

Aren't you the poster formerly known as RTDub? What happened to the Dub? And why are you listening to Delta Dawn?

RUOkie 03-19-13 02:38 PM

My favorite Tammy Wynette song.

Now..... I don't write sad songs, and stuff like that, as I think I'm actually pretty normal and level headed.

I think those may help keep you out of the institution. Good luck, TampaRaleigh.

i know, we have one of those hanging on the wall... and the big dummy wants to do it (the whole thing) again someday.

lunatic.

i keep telling him, only if he does something like, IM New Zealand or the Canary Islands. if i have to put up with the training and all that again, i want a good payoff at the end.

I would be singing a sad song--and my singing itself is sad--if I tried riding 150+ miles in one day.

Speaking of WHHOOOOOOOOOSSHHHH, how's his 5k post quest going?

it would seem so. i wasn't too worried since i'm not in any pain, and i can use the arm fine (within a limited range, and without weight on it) he said usually 8 weeks usually for full healing, but there's no gap to fill in.

big breakthrough today however was being able to reach the opposite armpit with a razor.

I confess I am confused about the "Dub" and why it is now superfluous.

not me. I didn't even bother reading it. just deleted it as soon as I saw it in my inbox. It'll all be US based companies anyway. postage would kill any "deal".
