Fixed

LowCel 03-05-13 07:06 AM

Just jumped on the Garmin forums, apparently a lot of people are having the same problem that I am having. For such an expensive bike computer this is not right.

TLDR this thread - what is up with the ol' 810?

Here is the report I sent to Garmin.

I am having issues with the 810 reading power (wattage) consistently. While climbing steadily I will look down and watch the wattage go from 300 down to 100 then back up to 300 (numbers are examples only). This is a problem since I use power to pace myself and to train. It is also messing up my average power and my normalized power.

Today I used both my Garmin 500 and the 810 on the same ride to see how much of a difference there is.

On the 500 my avg power was 154 watts with a normalized power of 212 watts.
On the 810 my avg power was 146 and my normalized power was 199.

In my opinion this difference is too much. I am including links to the ride with both computers.

500 - http://connect.garmin.com/activity/280073643

810 - http://connect.garmin.com/activity/280044468

He also unfriended me on Facebook.

Somehow, some way, I have managed to soldier on.

Apple will have to compete in the space it is already a player in. I can't imagine a TV product that would be a world changer, particularly not without the content provider cooperation, and they won't cooperate.

Some people think that the watch is a solution to a problem. Others think that it's a solution looking for a problem. In any event Apple needs something other than another smaller/larger/thinner/lighter product or they're going to loose even more steam.

It will sell a lot of units, I just wonder if it'll reach that critical mass tipping point where it becomes a must-have rather than a curiosity. I do think that it would be a cool toy, at the right price-point, but I'm sure that Apple's price point will be higher than I'm willing (they can't subsidy these things like they can with the phones).

coasting 03-05-13 07:51 AM

there is no new world changing must have product. i challenge anyone to conceptualise it. smartphone wasn't even a new concept. mobile internet was the new concept during the dotcom bubble. apple just successfully realised the idea as a commercial product. ipad was a new concept.

what is a must carry object...wallet/purse and keys then phone, then tablet. nothing else.

I guess I'm turning into the new SA. #4 said those 3 magic words last night: "I was wrong." And then the 3 words that married men will rarely hear: "You were right."

<sigh> I'd rather be happy than right. Time will tell.

Brief overview: #4's spending habits were getting out of control. I had been increasingly funding those habits. I finally put a stop to it and set limits, and she said she was leaving.

Apparently, after long consideration, the grass was not greener.

That's probably not how Billy views it. ;)

True, but hopefully that means Garmin really is paying attention and is working on a fix for it.
