what is a must carry object...wallet/purse and keys then phone, then tablet. nothing else.

How many facepalms in one paragraph?

There are rarely any novel ideas. Most inventions, from the printing press to today, are combinations of existing ideas.

We don't know what a "must-have" gadget is until it is out there.

I re-read the post; in fact, every sentence in that post is a faceplam :)

They're trying, but they keep burning out tubes.

So sorry about your cat.

Here is the report I sent to Garmin.

I am having issues with the 810 reading power (wattage) consistently. While climbing steadily I will look down and watch the wattage go from 300 down to 100 then back up to 300 (numbers are examples only). This is a problem since I use power to pace myself and to train. It is also messing up my average power and my normalized power.

Today I used both my Garmin 500 and the 810 on the same ride to see how much of a difference there is.

On the 500 my avg power was 154 watts with a normalized power of 212 watts.
On the 810 my avg power was 146 and my normalized power was 199.

In my opinion this difference is too much. I am including links to the ride with both computers.

500 - http://connect.garmin.com/activity/280073643

810 - http://connect.garmin.com/activity/280044468

Not to belabor the obvious, but I assume that you've set it to count zeros and sample every second instead of "smart recording"?

SkyDrive. Outlook. Office Online. Skype. XBOX and XBOX Music.

I'd say they have a pretty good handle.

Don't make fun of tubes. I'll beat your ass in defense of my audio gear. It's also worth noting that tubes respond more linearly than transistors in some regards, which is one of the reasons that there were tubes in MiG fighters well in to the 80s.

I'd NEVER make fun of tubes in AUDIO gear. Nothing "modern" can top the warm, rich sound.

Fee Waybill & Co. rocked it with this one. Tubes rule.

+1. Damn, I need a new phonograph. Mine croaked about 10 months ago. Only have the Tubes on vinyl.

Oh good - I'd hate to have to hit over the head with my Conrad Johnson - it's a little heavy to be swinging around.

What croaked? Just need a new cartridge/stylus or repairs to the 'table proper?

You still running tube gears in your system?

Sonic Frontiers with EL34s for me, and 20+ years it's still going strong.

16 mph in 90f = 15 mph in 32f

because of increase in air resistence

Me too. Although Love Bomb didn't get reviewed well at all, it is a masterpiece, at least side 2 is. Not sure the CD's for sale online are bootlegs or imports though. TCBP was Tubes at their best.

Sonic Frontiers is good gear. My current phono stage is an Anthem (SF Jr) Pre 1P. Pretty nice, but I hope to replace it with a Sutherland 20/20 sometime in the near future.

Motor problems it seems. Plays at variable speeds :( Started playing REALLY slow, like 10 rpm, then I spritzed it with contact cleaner and it did OK for a while but really couldn't hold constant speed at all. It's just a lowend late 80s Techniqs - Garage sale season should be firing up here really soon and I'm sure I can dig up something

datlas 03-05-13 09:46 AM

I can't believe we are getting another stupid mid-week snowstorm tomorrow. Another epic Weekly Wednesday club ride that won't happen.

Spend the money on something like an entry-level Rega or Pro-Ject. Belt-drives are where it's at and they should last a good, long time.

Hmmm.....I can get GP4000s tires from PBK for under $34 apiece from PBK....might be time to pounce and stock up??
