Sonic Frontiers with EL34s for me, and 20+ years it's still going strong. |

Spend the money on something like an entry-level Rega or Pro-Ject. Belt-drives are where it's at and they should last a good, long time.

If any of you is interested in FM, I'm going to sell my Magnum Dynalab tuner (which is where my avatar comes from) - not as much use for after the move.

Sorry for your loss, dstrong.

I LOVED my Dual 1229. Those things were built like tanks. VERY tough.

Brief overview: #4's spending habits were getting out of control. I had been increasingly funding those habits. I finally put a stop to it and set limits, and she said she was leaving.
Apparently, after long consideration, the grass was not greener. |

Oh good - I'd hate to have to hit over the head with my Conrad Johnson - it's a little heavy to be swinging around.
my mastering engineer friend sadly has a step in his process which involves burning a low end digital file to cd and playing it in his car. tragic. i think his least favorite phrase in the english language is "ok, but can you make it louder?" |

it's nice to know people still appreciate dynamic analog sound.

My issue is two-fold:
* they did nothing all night, letting it accumulate * if the plow would have come by at a reasonable speed, it would have formed a typical snowbank, leaving the walkway clear. Instead, it flew by, creating a low (<18") but wide (>7') pile. |

Put my car (a 2011 Acura TSX Sport Wagon) on Craigslist for 3 weeks. No serious takers at all, just 2 spammers. From what I can see, what I asked is not out of line as a starting point. Wrong season to sell cars, or people just don't buy nice cars from CL, just beaters?

I can't believe we are getting another stupid mid-week snowstorm tomorrow. Another epic Weekly Wednesday club ride that won't happen.

And no, it's not really a good time of year. All the dealerships around here are scraping the bottom with prices. Dealers in Chicago are outright lying with "internet pricing" that you'll never get when you walk in the door. We traded in the yellow terror because used prices are so low we knew we'd be losing our ass on it either way. |

When trading the 2003 Bonnie, I lost about $2,000 over private sale value, but the removal of the hassle was worth it. The trade was fair. |

I'd say they have a pretty good handle. |
Oh, and pretty much every time we've sold a car (the last two were modern BMWs still on their CPO warranties) private sale, it took a few months.
