Sonic Frontiers with EL34s for me, and 20+ years it's still going strong.

For the moment, I have no system... I passed along my vintage gear to my son for Christmas. I just didn't have the time or space, and he is a vintage vinyl fan.

I LOVED my Dual 1229. Those things were built like tanks. VERY tough.

If any of you is interested in FM, I'm going to sell my Magnum Dynalab tuner (which is where my avatar comes from) - not as much use for after the move.

BillyD 03-05-13 09:53 AM

Sorry for your loss, dstrong.

Duals were nice. I have a Rokson Xerxes that hasn't been unpacked since the move from NYC. I need to build or buy a proper audio rack before I can take it back out.

Yeah, I got 29 years out of that Technics. Might be able to splurge on something this summer...

it's nice to know people still appreciate dynamic analog sound.

my mastering engineer friend sadly has a step in his process which involves burning a low end digital file to cd and playing it in his car. tragic. i think his least favorite phrase in the english language is "ok, but can you make it louder?"

I worked in the industry for more than a while. My replacement insurance coverage for the stereo is about twice that of my VW.

gotcha. i'm just used to the plows here going by at warp speed every time. i figured it's because they need to throw the snow far enough to not just build up a high wall.

Put my car (a 2011 Acura TSX Sport Wagon) on Craigslist for 3 weeks. No serious takers at all, just 2 spammers. From what I can see, what I asked is not out of line as a starting point. Wrong season to sell cars, or people just don't buy nice cars from CL, just beaters?

AutoTrader seems to be the place for cars in the east. CarSoup in flyover country. Don't know about fees for either.

My old B&O is still spinning after 25 years.

We've always used AutoTrader. We've purchased and sold motorbikes on CL, but for cars we always go to AT.

And no, it's not really a good time of year. All the dealerships around here are scraping the bottom with prices. Dealers in Chicago are outright lying with "internet pricing" that you'll never get when you walk in the door. We traded in the yellow terror because used prices are so low we knew we'd be losing our ass on it either way.

I loathe the process of selling cars. This is why I always trade, although I may never buy another car unless alternative fuels and the vehicles which they fill become much more reasonably efficient than they are now.

When trading the 2003 Bonnie, I lost about $2,000 over private sale value, but the removal of the hassle was worth it. The trade was fair.

If it is a standard shift, feel free to PM me details. But I do not believe that they were made in a standard shift.

I'd say they have a pretty good handle.

Seems like they're still playing catchup in a space that's vulnerable to start-up competition.

truckstop 03-05-13 10:33 AM

Oh, and pretty much every time we've sold a car (the last two were modern BMWs still on their CPO warranties) private sale, it took a few months.

No they don't make one with manual shift. One, but not an important one, of the reasons I am selling it.

Catch-up to whom? Have you tried the aforementioned?
