[bEn] 12-19-04 08:31 PM

does it really matter?

Brian 12-19-04 08:31 PM

I gonna go get my haircut, and when I come back, I hope everyone's friends again.

I'm not sure about Lewis; I'm probably more of a Sean Tait fan, but BRACKEN???!!!!?? PARLEEEEZ!

Still can't believe he played for Australia, and I don't think he ever will again because the selectors realise what a stuff-up it was. And don't give me this "7 for 14" business -- who was he playing against?

This business about left handers is stooopid. Dunno about you, Sacc, but I used to lick my lips when
I saw a left hander marking out his run up. I felt that they couldn't get up the stumps. With everything angling across me, I knew I could try to smash everything over mid-off, and not get bowled if I missed :)

[bEn] 12-19-04 08:33 PM

yeah well i'm the one that needs a haircut.

Yeah, me likes Taitie as well. As for Bracken, well, when he swings the ball he does okay. Still rekon Tendulkar is his bunny. But yeah, not sure if he should be playing tests. He's probably the best leftie out there.

Didn't you ever wonder why you were always getting caught in slips of those lefties?

I was gunna say before that, in my experience, 99% of lefties bowl in-swingers to right handers, so the edges were rare, and unless the in'swingers were MASSIVE, LBW wasn't really a problem either.
Also, lefties seemed to always be slower than the right-hander up the other end.

Man, I loved 'em -- if they started the innings with a "7/2" field, or a 6/3, I would also try to smash anything on the stumps through the on side, because if I was hit on the pads, the ump usually
said: "nah, too much angle", or "nah, pitched outside leg."
I also felt safer against short balls becuase they moved across the front of my body toward the slips, so I could pull stuff with no fear of getting hit.

Sadly, Road Cycling has lost the collective wisdom of the Aussies. <shrug>

I think they're about $2.50 with shipping if I order a ****load of them. Is it worthwhile?

Rowan 12-19-04 09:29 PM

<shrug> Take the advice I gave jan... get on ya bike and start pedalling around the bike shops to see what they sell 'em for. Don't use them myself. Prefer the tyre pump, although the right shoulder I broke in September was complaining a bit the other morning and gain on Saturday afternoon. And the thought did cross my mind. I'd go for helium gas, though -- reduce the weight of the tyre/tube/wheel...

About time for some new tyres, I guess.

Well, that's a bit of a stretch. Left handed batters never have trouble getting given out to right handed bowlers LBW. It doesn't have to swing much if delivered close to the stumps.

I'll agree that lefties have always seemed slower than righties. I'll also say that the lefties I faced moved the ball more both ways than the righties, and a good one could be a lot harder to score off. I don;t quite share your discrimiatory attitude towards them. ;)

Ah well, you've play more than me, and at higher levels.
I was just a "park cricket bully" :p

lol. Your park crickets probably of a better quality than the crap played here. The fat**** playstation generation's wrecking sport in this country. Used to be 6 grades here when I started. Now there's only 2 and a half grades and one alchoholics hit and giggle grade. Be buggered if I know what everyone does on weekends these days. It certainly isn't sport.

Brian 12-19-04 11:01 PM

Yawn! Oh, cricket talk is finally over. It's about time.

wattsy_rules 12-19-04 11:10 PM

What the FOO is going on here!!! Why, Why I ask you were we bumped...Yes, I could go all the way back and read the 14 thousand pages of rivetting discussion, but quite frankly, there are just NOT enough pictures for me to even want to do so...So will somebody please explain in two sentences or less why we're here?

I did the hell ride on Staurday. Unfortunately for the guy in the 4wd, at least 2 of the hell riders were coppers.......doh!....one of them gave a little speech at Le knicks before the start....they are planning to cahrge him with everything from JFK's murder all the way down to jay walking!....the copper said Quote, "he'll get his licence back in may 2022 by the time I've finished with him!"........hooray for the good guys!
In my day, we would have quietly passed on the name and address of the f*cker so that the boys could hand out their own special brand of justice. Hard to drive when you can't walk!

Brian 12-19-04 11:19 PM

It was the cricket. Get on with your life, we're still here.

Geez, pattie. If I didn't know better I'd almost think you had a moan to the mods about the cricket talk. That might be how we got here?

Brian 12-19-04 11:44 PM

I guess you don't know better. It's not so much not liking the cricket as not being into spectator sports. But don't think that I'd complain to the mods about my adopted countrymen. What would I say? "They're talking cricket, and I wanna talk about, um, hmmm. What?"

Ditto.

Rowan 12-20-04 12:06 AM

Yeah, here we go. The lazy bums finally show up after a huge effort was put in by a mighty few to uphold the honour of the Aussies. And what do we get? What the FOO is going on here! Jesus.... where were you at the weekend?

Actually, it's not so bad being bottom-dwellers and feeders. Plenty more potential for subject matter. Hardly been in Road Cycling today.

No way. Everyone knows that plastic bikes are good for the environment, as they're carbon sinks, sucking up all the nasty CO2 the seppo's are putting out. If everyone in the world rode plastic bikes there would be no global warming. So when one makes jokes about our plastic bikes, we just smile to ourselves at their foolishness and pray to mother nature to forgive those nasty metal riding apes for whom the materials for their carriages were so savagely ripped from her womb.
