For the newbie, how do you get any fuel into the body at that time in the morning? Breakfast at 0500 is not an option! I'll be puking by west gosford!

Gday Paul. Fuel light. If you normally have 7 weetbix, just do 3 or 4. Have a second brekky when you get home. :) It's only a recovery ride (slow pace for an hour and a bit), so you could get by with a cup of OJ.

If I see you at mobil at 5:45 good, if not no problem.

Good morning my sleepy headed friends :p

What does your weekly training schedule look like rockmuncher?

How much compamy do you want?

Tues: Hills
Wed: Race simulation (chasing long breakaways)
Thu: Intervals

Sat: Group Ride
Sun: Base

Weekdays it's pretty hard work so I'm doing solo stuff for now, but I enjoyed the ride down to work with climbo on Tuesday. I might have to that again soon. :)

Every other Saturday I like to do Akuna Bay with Turramurra. Off weeks I do long ride (3-4hours) of hills, moguls and undulations. Feel free to join me when I'm riding around the Coast if you like.

So that leaves Sundays. They are long (up to 5 hours) and heart rate based, so avg speed varies. I enjoy a bit of company on those rides, eases the tedium. I'll be joining Expat this Sunday up in Newcastle for an hour or so. Might even introduce him to some little hills. :)

I know some great hills, but they'll be a bit rough on you and your bike. Also, your tires are a bit skinny. Or did you mean on the road?

pshaw 01-13-05 04:31 PM

Ok, first step is I need to get out of bed!

Trying to establish a training routine... working in sydney/living on the coast makes early mornings a chore. Mornings are early, nights are dark. What time do you head out?

climbo 01-13-05 04:46 PM

did you ride? Last night with the nieces here so we watched a DVD late and then I went for a quick body bash this morning at Terrigal instead of riding. (note to boardriders: swell on the rise so a surf in the AM looks on the cards)

I'm up for the Tues hills again soon but I'll have to leave earlier than before (say meet at 5) and head back to Gosford (at about 1-1.5 hours in), office is moving today and I lose the shower here at work so have to do return trips until I change jobs or sort something else out.

How good was Aus A in the 20-20 ? Looks like an excellent night's entertainment to me, they need to play one up here some time.

Ever been slapped across the face with a smelly cycling glove, ala knights of the round table challenge? :p

we do the same pshaw, I'm working in Nth Syd right now, it means getting out early, hard but less traffic and cooler. It does upset the routine though, the sleep always beckons !!

Yeah I rode, but intense stomach cramps (following on from the same yesterday). Not much fun unfortunately.

If you turned around at Calga that should be pretty close to 2hours. You might even make the 8:15.

Missed the cricket, what happened?

I watched AUS get 179 in 20 overs, plenty of big hits, Shaoib went for about 40 runs off 4 overs. Missed most of Pak's innings but they were 4 for 17 at one point early on. They made stupid shots and got run out cause they are stinking slow between wickets. Looked like a great night out, they only get 80 minutes per innnings, so 3 hours worth of cricket and a few beers under the lights would be great.

I mapped out my weekday when I decided to start training again. Work, commute time, time with kids, sleep all got mapped out. That left one slot of reasonable time: between 4am and 7am. I works perfectly, but I didn't just start getting up at 4am!! 5:30 for a while, then 5:00, then 4:30, then 3:50. When I started out I incorporated training into part of the commute. But at the end of the day racing cars is not really that beneficial :D Only proper training gets you race ready. Unless you're a freak, in which case you should be stoned to death.

rockmuncher 01-13-05 05:13 PM

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention: as you get up earlier you have to go to bed earlier. Get used to having dinner at 6-6:30. It's really wierd in summer.

Yeah right! You'll end up in some farm country growing "tomacco". Going up hills is as much fun as a trip to the dentist.

Thylacine 01-13-05 05:17 PM

So if you deviate from your well planned life, do you need a signed certificate from your mom?

Man, that's hardcore. I wouldn't even get up at 4am for something I like. I'm lazy. I like sleep. What can I say? :p

I hate to tell ya Munchie, but that freak you mention? That's YOU buddy!!!! :D

(*note-to-self* Must get Munchie on a Thylacine, he is a freak)

Aahh. Now I see where I've been going wrong. I haven't been to the dentist in over 25 years, so I don't have a proper comparison. Maybe I should go. Nah, they'd only find something wrong!

If my burned skin doesn't start to peel or bubble, I may go check on the lighthouse again today, just to be sure.

My well planned life involves today and tomorrow, so no.

 I've been labelled! But I ain't no freak. I'm just scum with conflicting interests: Family first, sleep and work fit in somewhere, bike last. :(

Thylacine 01-13-05 05:54 PM

I better not mention that I'm a mountain biker disguised as a roadie then

It's not a road bike! It's a light weight mountain bike better suited for less rocky terrain. And I appear to be losing weight myself, so I thought I better keep up the good work.

That's one helluva sunburn if you're losing weight just from peeling :p

Brian 01-13-05 06:16 PM

Well I am thick skinned, so it all makes sense. Have to be around all you seppo bashers.
