I know nobody asked, but.......... :D

My funniest racing strory:

Dunlop Road in "B" grade, I was in a break of four, and we had the race won.
So, we're out on the back straight for the last lap, and the other guys "sit up" and say:
"so, who wants to win?" I'm thinking: "WHAT". Naturally, not knowing what's going on, I say,
"me me me me me me me me me me ."
So I cross the line, take the money, get told I'm going to A grade, then go home.

I was too naive to realise that, firstly, none of the other guys wanted to go
up to A grade, and secondly, WE WERE SUPPOSED TO SPLIT THE MONEY!!!

So, one week later there's three guys after me, looking for their cut. :D

Well, I think it's funny :(

I hope one of them wasn't Stephen Pate. One bloke you never wanted to do a runner on if your were in the chop with him.

I know of him, but not personally. He kind of burst onto the scene as I finished racing and won everything for a year or so, then turned pro for a US team that folded before it got off the ground. What's he up to these days? I heard coaching or race promotion or something.....he's got a good website.

Good on him...I'd vote for him. Clearly he's no idiot.

....so..after completing 'warnie' last sunday, 'around the bay' yesterday...was feeling a little shagged...it occurred to me that I'd done 700km in the last 8 days...most of it hard. The grand plan was to 'step off' the bike now until after cup weekend...but I might sneak the odd ride in before. The 'coaching nazi' is already on about the national masters titles in melb in march....looking for a medal in my age group...hmmm, sounds like some more hurting is gunna be happening between now & then!...maybe I will take these few weeks completely off....

Hey ed...with weather like this weekend, did the scapin peek out of the shed?

I like Port doug.....I can remember going there in the early 80's, pre Mr. Skase's development fenzy, when it used to be just a little fishing village......the pub was amazing...no walls, just a thatched roof & a cold beer.....farking great place for a drink......I don't dare take my shirt off in public at the moment.....it scares little children & old people...I've got the classic bike riders tan happening.....brown on the ends & white in the middle....someone needs to invent a material for jesrays that you can tan thru!

This ***** is begining to annoy me. Can someone please explain to me which part of having a locked 'women only' forum isn't discrimination, and which part of locking a thread about the physicality of another cyclist isn't censorship?

Someone needs to explain to people how things work. You see, there are men and there are women. Men like to look at women, and comment to other men how nice they look. It's a pretty natural thing, you see, as that's how men and women come together to procreate the species and all.

Can someone explain to me why the mods feel that this is somehow unacceptable discussion material, or is it more a matter of the inappropriate forum? Maybe a 'men only' forum would solve that problem? ;)

We seem to do okay with an official Aussie thread.....discussing heaps of different topics...even women *gasp*....we don't have a problem with Seppos or Kiwis poping in to say hi......

Holy *****, why haven't be been banned or locked yet? :D

Got me on both counts.

Well, yeah, I thought it was a pretty simple concept. Then again, for the more conservative amongst us, their sensibilities might be safer if such talk was kept behind closed doors.

I guess that's the point. This forums supposed to be a general forum open to all, so they don't want content fit to upset those more sensitive. I think a mens forum would be the only fair and decent thing to do considering the climate of this site. That being said, I don't think it's going to happen. They'd be to scared of what we'd get up to. :p

G'day,

koffee & i are having a 'discussion' via PM on this 'issue'. Surfice to say I wasn't taking that from her........It seems I was the last in a long line of blokes to upset her today...so i copped the brunt of it.....how do i post my PM to koffee here for you blokes to see...is it just copy & paste?

Hitchy.

ed073 10-17-04 08:21 PM

PM is the correct forum for liasing with mods.....do it in a thread and you'll be banned!! Seen it happen....

Hitchy 10-17-04 08:26 PM

g'day,

Hitchy's PM to Koffee...I'll probably get banned for this!...so hope you blokes appreciate me defending the realm!

here tis:

have a bad weekend Koffee?...obviously a bit testy today!. I can't let your little rant pass with out reply, although probably not much point in starting a thread to do so...as you hold all the strings there!. 1st of all...you are wrong...i distinctly remember perusing the womans forum one day before it was locked & came across a thread, with pics whose main topic was how nice the butts of particular pros were & had a number of descriptive opinions about some of the 'packages'. I particularly remeber the thread because I recall wondering if males could get away with the same type of thread directed the other way....no way, would you have allowed that!.Yet when i point out that perhaps woman have the same type of lighthearted conversations about the opposite sex...you fly off the 'handle'...what gives? I am particularly disappointed in you in relation to this thread discussion......having a rant & then locking it without giving anyone the opportunity to reply......Oh, i know you hold all the 'strings' ....& any criticism of any of the mods will get me banned...so be it......I await your defence of "my asumptions, AS USUAL is wrong".....what other assumptions do you claim I have 1/ made or 2/ are wrong about?......but then again taht would be entering into a debate...something you are clearly of no mood to do today. A pity really, I normally find the mods to be fair & even handed in the application of 'disipline'.......just goes to show.......perhaps thats an example of my incorrect assumptions...asuming that we would all be treated equally

Hitchy 10-17-04 08:30 PM

...so badsac...how was the 'tour de bikeshop'.......find anything good?...buy anything?....waddya see?...c'mon give!

Thylacine 10-17-04 08:53 PM

This is the ironic thing about most BBS' - Most owners and moderators claim to be fair and unbiased and even go to the trouble of making you 'sign' some bugus pro forma agreement before you 'sign up', but if there is anything they don't like they'll feel free to step in and censor something or halt discussion. The bigger irony is that most of these BBS' are American...you know, land of liberty, democracy and freedom for all....home of the Bill of Rights.....

Amendment I Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

I think the bottom line is that Internet BBS' are privately owned forums, so the owners and mods can be as unreasonable as they like...although I don't understand what happens when someone on the BBS breaks the law by 'saying' something that's illegal - I think the owners have certain responsibilities in that case.

But hey, that's why I like the Internet.....it's...errr.....organic. Or something.

531Aussie 10-17-04 08:56 PM

Morning

While we're at it, can someone please interpret this moderator's "are you selling bikes" response to my post?
http://67.19.182.78/showthread.php?t=70843

Is it terse? I had no idea what he's on about. Is it now policy not to post bike company URLs?

Hitchy 10-17-04 09:14 PM

g'day 531,

don't try & back pedal now...we know you were 'thinking' something offensive!...people like you should be banned from the forums!......:D

Hitchy 10-17-04 09:18 PM

...oi 531,

does this sound familiar....Guy on a Scapin in 'around the bay'....pro-motion stickers on it...a 'for sale' sign taped to the back of his jersey.....said something like...'for sale scapin blah, blah, blah...must sell, FORK DOESNT SUIT ME!"........so i rides up to him & says.....'You've gotta be 531?......looked at me like a complete idiot!

:D hee hee hee.
Yeah, I just wanted to snob you off. :)

Just kiddin' -- as if I'd be getting up at whatever time to do that ride.....6am, or so?!?!?

I've nearly done that myself a few times to guys on LOOKS, big guys on charcoal TREKS, etc...

As far I know, Pro Motion are, or at least were, the main Scapin retailer in Mebourne, so there's a bazillion Scapins out there with Pro Motion stickers all over them.

I'm actually gunna give that frame away because I don't want the stress of after sales anxiety. I think I'll "give" it to my bike shop for a pairs of rims, or something.

Nah, stuffit. My mates baby got really sick so he couldn't go. Thought about going on my own, but I'd just have to go down again when he was ready, so I thought I'd hold off.

Although my poor old mum has been saying for ages she'd like to have a look around her old stomping grounds at Gosford. So I was thinking of killing two bird with one stone this week and taking her down. At the same time I might stick my head in at
The Ettalong Bike Shop to see if they'll sell me an 04 Lemond Zurich or something for half price. Don't know how keen the old bird will be to sit in a hot car as I go test riding a heap of bikes. But that's the price she'll have to pay. :)

BTW, that PM was quite restrained. And you didn't post any of her replies. So she'd really have to flip out to ban you over that.
