Pretty much. Just need shoes/pedals, but they aren't a huge chunk ontop of the purchase price when I'm spending that much.

I should have said what's some nice bikes for 5k. Best bike is like asking about the length of string etc.

Hey raymondovv. Welcome to this mad house. Another mexican? Sigh. Almost makes you think Victorians are the only ones in the country with internet.

531Aussie 11-07-04 05:03 AM

Jeez, $5000, I'll have to work on it; there's so many options.

Have you narrowed it to carbon?

Once I decided on frame material, it made things heaps easier

I thought you were originally going to get a Trek 1000....or were you just joking?
I like the look of the Orbea......they look cool !!
Shoes and pedals will cost you between $250 and $600 depending on what you want. you should be able to get a good deal when you buy the bike though.

Doesn't necessarily have to be carbon. But the roads out here trully are ******, and if spending that much dough, I don't want something weighing as much as a boat anchor. So nah, any materials are sweet as long as it satisfies those conditions. I'd imagine full Aluminium might not be the go though.

I should say before any of you go rushing off finding me the bike of the century, I'm not certain if I'm brave enough to go through with this threat. I'm a big man on the internet. Unfortunatly, not so big in the house. :(

A man's got to make a stand every once in a while though. ;)

There is a shop near where I work called Bike Now. They sell the Orbea brand. I will try get there one lunch time and check them out.

Trek 1000? No way man. I want class on a budget. ;)

Yeah, I doubt I'll be looking for the worlds best shoes for a start. Just something to get the job done, and like you say, the best deal the better. 5000 really is to much as it is. But if it's money well spent...

What about Wilier bikes......does anyone know how much they are?

badsac 11-07-04 06:09 AM

They have a fair range of bikes there don't they. Don't look to bad at all. Bet they'd be on the pricier side of things though.

Scoz 11-07-04 06:23 AM

Anyone know the price on the 05 Orbea 'Lobular 100' frameset?

Scoz 11-07-04 06:45 AM

You girls gone to beddy-byes already? :D

badsac 11-07-04 06:48 AM

Not off hand. I'd be talking to the local Orbea dude tomorrow though so I'll get you a price if nobody has already.

Any of you blokes go for a ride yesterday? I rode home from Sorrento and was whimpering like a skirt by the time I got to Patto River. Bl**dy wind started out S/W when I left the house and turned to an Easterly by the time I got to Mt Martha. That along with the driving rain which kicked in about the same time made for an unpleasant ride.

Anyway, I was appalled that Robbie was wearing a Livestrong bracelet...Who's Robbie? :)

That's a fair effort.

I watched the rain all day like a little kid hoping cricket training wouldn't be cancelled,
then gave up and went back to bed......mmmm looxery
