Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

That wind was awesome -- flew home with it....grouse fun.

I finally dug up a copy of Ride last night.

What colour is Wattsy's TREK? I saw a couple of big guys out there.

Eh, this Trek was black and blue.

Ride mag is GROUSE!! I especially like the way it weighs a tonne.....200 pages!
The guy in the shop said the next one is not out 'til Feb -- correct?

That bit on Eddy's bikes was the first thing I read. How's that bit that said that Chris Boardman's
"traditional" hour record bike is actually about 1100g heavier that Merckx's record bike!!
I dunno about that Merckx road bike being 9 kg. Whada you reckon? Indurain's steel bikes from around
1993 were about 9kg.

I'm not big on race reports; I guess I'm not
pro enough, but I love all the "stuff" sections.

What about the weights of those Orbeas in the ads towards the back?
One of the cheaper ones is supposed to be 9.8kg!! What's goin' on there??!!

I could go on and on......

I haven't read today's posts, but I was surprised last night that Neiwand was getting
so much support. I didn't know he was recognized world wide.

MAN!!!! What's goin' on...... one minute, all the best bikes you could buy were about 10 grand -- now
they all seem to have jumped up to $15,000.

the stickers aren't big enough. I'd probably make my own and stick 'em on

Those $4k plus Hyperions are works of art.

Certainly a bit sleeker than the Campag Atlanta 96 32-hole clinchers laced to D-A I had on my old TSX De Rosa!!!

The wheels on that thing were $4K...so that didn't help....this months was a special edition cos they had the TDF & vuelta to 'wrap up'...it's normally not that 'heavy'!.......The marc Sherriff page always cracks me up!...& yeah, its a quarterly, so the next one will be end of Jan......

I was talking to Max Rainsford a couple of months ago, and he was (again) b1tching
about all the blokes who he suspected may have done drugs. He says one season nobody could stay on his wheel, then the next season he was struggling to beat the very same guys.

Was Pate one of 'em?

I remember Phil Anderson saying one year that he could train and race his arse off in Oz and arrive in Italy in Feb all tanned and ripped and have his legs blown orf by fat, pasty locals.

Hmmmm.......

Max should know better. There isn't an Aussie on the planet who would take drugs, we're sooooo squeaky clean

Bikes: 8 bikes - one for each day of the week!

I noticed that. Squeaky clean. Big on indoor gardening too...

Speaking of lights, I need to upgrade from LED to something useful. I can't afford megadollar HID. Anyone know of a decent Halogen setup with Li-ION battery and where to get them?
