Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

+1. Where is this idea that people race bikes or watch bike races for some reason other than that it's fun coming from? Sure is a horrible waste of money to not have a good time.

I'm fairly new here, and don't mean to piss of the cyclist coalitionhaha, but in my humble opinion, who cares? I may lack sensitivity but I could care less about someone who doesn't like cyclists, and I'm even more carefree when they use an extremely gentle word like silly.

Rage against the machine I say... I mean if you want to watch your company go down the drain because of your silly insistence in voicing your opinion to the community and then it becoming a wild fire over the internet, then by all means... They could have just said "closed due to anything other than the bike race or people who have money and are here for it."

Alas, opinions are given and the crowd has gone wild.

I've been to this coffee shop a few times, the spandex crew aren't missing much. Takes about 15 min to get your coffee after you order, the staff is rude and to be honest the coffee at the small grocer a couple doors down is better. Avila Beach is an awesome little beach town if you are in the area. Don't let this donkey keep you away.

Maybe they worship neither spandex nor money. I was at the start yesterday, after watching the spandexed male groupies around the team trucks, desperate to get close to one of their heros, I was glad I rode over in casual gear. In the coffee shops and breakfast joints it was locales spending their dough not the tour groupies. I think the coffee shop sign is pretty funny, but negative. They could have said something similar without being insulting to anyone...unlike my post.
