Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I just play along with the Trek-bashing because it amuses me to do so. Trust me- I'm a total Fred, and my bike is pretty laughable, in serious cycling circles.

The OP makes a really important point that I don't believe anyone on this forum has ever made before.

I think you're doing some misinterpreting here. Asplosions are mentioned in regards to any carbon bike, and often come up in any pointless thread. It is a dig at retrogrouches, not trek. The Trek in joke is "Does Trek make good bikes?" And the answer to that, is obviously, no.

Ha ha ha, now that's funny. If a brand doesn't get kudos by the majority on "Hot r Not", it's HIDEOUS. Thanks for the laugh. btw, my Trek is awesome...

Either way, it's a bike. I bought it to ride, you know... to go faster than you. Ha.

Be reasonable. Don't just hate Trek. Hate Bikes Direct also.

Haha! I was going to mention that I ride a Motobecane, ask what people think of them, and wait for the fun.

I'll bet you do. It's funny that people take that thread seriously and use it as a measuring stick of bicycles. I hate to break it to you but a bike can be hot even when viewed from the non-drivetrain side, or without its tire logos positioned properly. Mine looks the best when it's bombing down the road at 45 kph dodging hostile truckers.

Does the internet make some people completely unable to detect humor and smartassery?

Maybe I didn't explain myself clear enough. There are seperate sentences there and if I'm understanding your reply correctly, you are joining them together.

1. The majority (meaning not all) of treks are hideous. I'm not saying they are poorly built, but aesthetically they just dont do it for me. I'm speaking on behalf of Bianchi10, Nick and me. I'm not speaking for everyone here.

2. There are several happy Trek owners on the forum-meaning my comment is not assuming that everyone hates them.

3. The MAJORITY (again, meaning NOT ALL) treks that get posted in the HOT R NOT get a not. Its a fact.

Truth of the matter is, if a majority of people around here loved Trek, we wouldn't have people constantly asking what is the deal with so many people hating on Trek.

I'm glad you like your Trek.

Bikes: Trek 1.2

I got a trek because I had a friend work part time at a bike shop that carried a few different brands, and I got one built at cost. But I've never had any issues with the bike. I'd probably not even notice a difference if I tried another bike within the same ~1k price range.
