Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Good club ride today. We had 9 riders and we did 51 miles and 3000 feet climbing.

Weather was chilly and brisk.

Did I miss anything while I was gone??

It feels so weird having the flu and missing out on a weekend of riding. I feel so empty deep inside despite I'm full of congested home-style extra hearty phlegm.

My first professional gigs (such as they are) are this Saturday and then Feb. 15, and I have another one in early April. Hopefully more to follow. Me and my pal JD.

Thanks. I think the nest on the post near the pond just north of Poppasquash road are falcons. Have you ever noticed?

Is it wrong to choose which bike gets parked in the bedroom, as opposed to the living room, based on how well its color coordinates with the rest of the decor?

It's easier than redecorating the rest of the room.

...so do you actually have to get paid cash money to be a professional, or do free drinks qualify as payment in kind ?

Get a recumbent, and use it to replace the Barcalounger in the living room.

There are currently four bikes in the living room. I was thinking of moving the Free Spirit to the bedroom because, although it doesn't match anything in the room, I think the lugs set off the Van Gough print- "The Night Cafe"- the best and vice versa. LoP suggested I take pix of the room with the various bikes in it and ask for opinions. I'll probably wait to do that until we get my bikes moved in too and are choosing the second bike that will be parked in the bedroom and will thus need to go well with the decor *and* the bike already there.

Thanks 2mb, laj . . . no thats an immature eagle. It take 4 to 5 years for an eagle to earn the white head & tail feathers.

In my house the Steel bike sits alone, separate from the other bikes due to potential paint-chipping considerations. The Ti & carbon bikes are bunched together where the Ti can show off his superiority. He's a bully really.

I'm sure you just need to get to know him better. Beneath his hard guy exterior he's probably just a big softy that has carbon inferiority complex.
