Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I thought the burning car was there to warm other drivers who were going to be trapped anyway. Like a burn barrel for homeless folk. My first thought was "aren't those Southerners friendly!"

They must be some big-time bike hippies in your neck of the woods, 'cause I know that I would get icy stares of death (or worse) if I rolled my bike through a grocery store here or in Brooklyn.

I don't feel so left out of all the snow storm talk anymore. We have over a foot of new snow this morning and it's still coming down.

Two hours on snow removal duty. Machine and shovel. I'm counting that as cross training.

I had to use the snow blower this morning as well. First time this year. Shoveled for 30 minutes, then cranked up the machine. I also counted it as upper body work because I had to wrench it up on top of the berm at the end of my driveway and let it chew its way to the bottom, multiple times. A good time was had by all.
