Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Ramona, the best relationship advice I could give you would be not to seek relationship advice on a bicycle forum. Hummer joined this thread seeking relationship advice, and look where he ended up.

Also, remember that I'm the guy who thinks his wife was replaced by a fembot in Brazil.

Edit: I just realized that that could mean I'm knocking socks with a cyborg. How flipping cool is that?!!!!

Speaking of which, where is Hummer? Where is @veloVol? What the heck happened to people in the new year?

How extraordinary.

I've seen references to Addiction in other threads. I get the impression more people are reading than posting. I enjoy the bike talk. In that spirit, I propose we start a monthly or bi monthly Addiction bike product review. Amidst the chatter, a regular or lurker reviews a product. Your choice, list based. Pictures recommended.

I'll do the first review. KCNC C7 lightweight brakes. I can probably write up a decent review. OCLV and I are the only ones I know that have them and he's banned. Some guy on SC has them and doesn't like them. We got into it a bit. I think I'm right.

I ride in the mtns. I've had Chorus and Record brakes. I've had them a few years. I was first in line for carbon clinchers and used early carbon brake compounds. I have relatively new carbon clinchers with the new compounds.

At the end of the day and the beginning of the day, it's just bike riding to everyone.

that's ok. it's a BSO fixie. I doubt there will be much grease in the hubs/bb. overcoming inertia will be more of a problem. you only need to be able to stop at your LBS to buy a proper bike.

if you're generally grouchy and it's not lop's fault but he's taking the brunt of it, let him know that - that it's not him. also, make it a point to say at least one nice/positive thing. just make the effort. first - i believe in "fake it till you make it" and even if you're grouchy, you can will yourself into being a little more positive, and second - it's exhausting to be around a partner who is negative all the time.

one big issue with mr. ts and i is that he's in a customer service position, despite the fact that he's one of the angriest people i've ever known. (like, that's just his natural state of being.) he has to be nice to his customers, and he's been told that he's very patient and easy to get along with. unfortunately all the pent up irritation and anger from being nice to everyone else all gets vented at me. weeks go by where even if i know he's not yelling *at* me, he's mad about something, and doesn't have a single nice thing to say about anything. it tends to suck the joy out of everything else.

i know i'm projecting a whole bunch, but maybe there's something in there that will help.

Agree. I am taking a month off from running. I have a nagging Achilles problem and I really want it to heal.

Well, having moved in with Atomic Girl, I don't have piles of nights alone on the couch to chat with you people. That happened just about right at the start of the new year.

So I have a steel SS with fenders. They just finished the MUP near my house so I could hop on, do the whole trail out/back and it would be just about 20 miles.

I am thinking of doing this a few evenings a week (once snow gone) after I put the kids to bed, say from 9-10PM.

Any comments on night time MUP riding? The trail has no lights but I have a badass 900 Lumen MagicShine light (the one with the asploding battery pack). I think I may give that a try.

However, whatever the Broncos are doing is NOT working for them. They need to shape up or this is going to turn into an awfully disappointing Super Bowl.

On a second serious note:

I am a sarcastic SOB. I run factories, and work with some great people, and some seriously awful people. I would be sarcastic at home, and never realized that my wife and youngest son profoundly do not understand that as wit. My oldest does, so he and I are close, but I put distance where I shouldn't have. This led to the declaration that the wife wanted a divorce, 15 years in.

This led to marriage counselling, which was a significant failure, in that she wanted a line judge to review the previous week, and score points. I don't know what I wanted, but I inadvertantly picked up one gem. We are all adults, and we are all children. The key to being successful is being an adult when your spouse's child needs one, and them being one when your child needs that. Its tough, because usually their child hurts our child, and then there are two children and no adults.

I have turned that one gem into a successful cattle and oil business. There is a TV show about it. It's set in Dallas, but I forget the name.

Truvativ Blackbox Danny Hart handlebars. They're gold. They're wide.

Not much grip area, though. Just enough for XT brake levers, Sram Attack 8-speed shifters and 4.5" grip.
