Okay, okay - so maybe *tomorrow* will be the day that I open up the Addiction thread and don't get verklempt.
You've got a good one there, stoney - I hate that this happened, but am glad that you both still have each other.

So I finally got the courage to look in the Hot or Not thread, and this is there:
...is there a significant problem with bulimia in the roadie community, or is this guy an outlier ?

It's not shut down, it just starts anew each month because it had gotten so long and unwieldy. As far as it's name, I believe the original thread was started by a guy named pcad eons ago ( He's really , really old) and the original topic was about his unnatural love for the Scott Addict bicycle. Since then, the addict part has faded into nothingness and it has since become a place where old timers on this site hang out to get away from or comment on the silliness of the same oft repeated themes found on the site relating to how to wash your helmet, how to wash your gloves, what causes saddle sores, what color bar tape, what color helmet, what color bike, what kind of bike, how big a bike, fake bike or real bike, what should i eat, what should i drink, how often should i eat or drink, how does one pee when riding, how does one poop whilst riding, should one poop or pee or hold it, should i ride in the rain, should i ride outdoors, what kind of trainer, how high should my saddle be, should i ride at night, should i use lights at night and if so what kind, how do i wash my cycle computer, is sex good, is sex better than cycling, do i look funny, does my helmet look funny, is my nose too big for this sport, am i too fat for this sport, are YOU too fat for this sport, is this a sport or is this a hobby, do i even like cycling, if so then why, do i really go 30 mph average when the Tour De France guys average 24 mph, should i ride on a MUP, what is a MUP , why do they call this the 41, is God real, are donuts really bad for you, should i eat them even if I am too fat for this sport, do I have an eating disorder, do I have a drinking problem, are you really an ******* or is it me, who am I .
There, I think that covers it.

My first car as an adult was an eight year old 1984 BMW 325e. The resale value went down almost immediately because some jackass decided to pry off the "e" but my ex still held out hope. Every bumper sticker and window cling I wanted to put on was met with "Absolutely not. It'll make it that much harder to get our money out of it" as if anyone does that who doesn't have a collectible car. Turns out that I could have put a life-sized picture of a unicorn farting rainbows on the car. Some assclown in a "full-sized" pick-up was running late for a dentist appointment, saw the light had turned green but didn't see my little silver car. Luckily I had moved my boot from the brake to the gas because I had my two year old daughter in a car-seat in the backseat and he hit us hard enough to knock us most of the way through the intersection and render the trunk uncloseable. I was fine and she was fine and the cops tracked him down in the dentist's chair where he was fine but the car was declared totaled. Resale value? Yeah, right.

I posted up thread that I'm a pretty new cyclist- took it up just over a year ago. I'm totally in love with it. Even though I don't know half of what yall are talking about. I do feel pretty ok with my training knowledge, though, I'm totally geeked out on that. In one month, I have a tough climbing century, that's what I'm training for now.
Anyway, I'm stoked because I got my biggest volume week yet: 200.5 miles and 11,112 ft of climbing. Today I rode 1700 ft and 35 mi, a few steep but short hills, really kind of a stupid ride with no training objective, just trying to get those numbers. I seriously considered another "real" climbing ride, but decided that would be in violation of my training plan, too big of a volume increase over last week.
For some of you probably these numbers are nothing. But I'm happy with it for sure.

Coming from New England and settling here in Indiana was a real adjustment. People are not use to and don't do well with the in-your-face approach to interpersonal problems I learned as a kid. Made more than my shre of mistakes but whenever I go home , once I'm over the Hudson river it all comes back.

The thread was never about the stupid Addict bicycle. If that's what you think, you have learned nothing.
