While this is true, I think a lot of folks go too low. Not everyone is a pro athlete.

while I don't disagree that a lot of folks go too low, your comment made it sound as though across the board the stem should be higher to be more comfortable. This thread is form > function, remember that.

Fair enough. I guess what I meant was that the bike looks good, even without the stem slammed. (Although it would look better with it slammed.)

Trying to compete with the "most decals/logos"... I might have to get some Prologo logo tape for this bike to up the logo count... :)

Trying some new rubber in the form of Michelin Pro4 Service Course in place of the usual Continental GP4000S. I'd put on a KMC black and red DLC chain except the gold titanium nitride chains are always available for less than half what the black ones cost.

pro4 and gold kmc chains are my jam, yo.

HOT. High logo bikes might appear too busy in pictures but they look much better going down the road than old plain ones.

BigJeff 12-08-14 01:31 PM

Who make s those wheels? :P

I like Time bikes, but sometimes the decals can be a bit overwhelming.

Are thise Look pedals?

The newer Time Skylon toned down the decals. In the case of the RXRS black label colorway, this is one that actually works for me. Additionally, one of the reasons I'd like to add a Look to the ride stable is that the decals scream LOOK. :)

I cheaped out and have 105 pedals on there, just wasn't feeling the added cost of more expensive pedals. Though I've been tempted to swap to the newer Time Xpresso pedals, I just have too many bikes and shoes already set up with Shimano SPD-SL to swap out all those pedals and cleats. I like the ability to wear any of my road shoes with any of my road bikes.

I think the photo doesn't do this bike justice. The direct light on the bike and all the shadows cast on the garage door makes it distracting to see what is bike and what is shadow.

As of now, it's a no for me. There is just way too many logo's and that's coming from someone with a Cannondale lol!

Not a fan of the red hoods either, but that's just my opinion.

And C'mon that fizik bag unclips in 2.1 seconds. You couldn't take that off for the picture!? ;-)

I'm in agreement with this, especially on a bike with aggressive geometry like this. I didn't build this one with endurance rides in mind. Leaving some wiggle room on the steerer tube until I get a real fitting. My brain says it's a good idea since going from a 56 to a 57. I'm sure it will go considerably lower. Being low and in the drops is most comfortable to me typically.

As far as the compact crank, I have standard rings but swapped them out for the Assault on Mt. Mitchell last year and never cared to go back. I can only think of one race where not having those extra teeth hurt me on the final sprint; but outside of that, I prefer compact as my avg cadence barely drops below 100. Suits my riding style better.

I was thinking the effect was intentional - to make it look as dazzling as possible. Hot in a way - sizzling, you might say - but not to my taste.

I was looking to get these decals, but I don't know if they'll fit 30mm rims.

Mavic Cosmic Carbone Black White Letter Contours Complete Rim Decal Set In | eBay

Anyone know where to get them custom done for the Cosmic Elites?

The chain and cassette were once silver, but not after a couple thousand miles :thumb:

I'm posting this again because last time I posted the bike was not set up for me to ride yet, and now it is, plus I like the fence and wanted to share.

Not a fan of all black, but nice looking bike.

I think the "rules" in this thread are tougher to award full points.
White garage door for background
Remove bottles
Remove light
Remove the radar detector (or whatever is hanging from the bars)
Wheels with stems at 6 or 12
Small cog
Tires are not lined up the same with stems
I'd tip the bars down a little

Again, nice bike.

nice bike

BigJeff 12-09-14 10:20 AM

I thought "all black" was 2013 hot.... We're almost 2015, need a new hot.

I vote logos everywhere.... 17 minimum, ideally over 30.

all of that, yeah, fine. The bars look angled up due to camera angle I suppose.
