Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Identifying Frame by the Serial Number

I recently bought a frame on eBay that I'm pretty confident is a Columbus SL, but doesn't have the decals on it. It's a MBK Super Record from about 1990, and I know it should be SL because I had the same bike myself back in the day. So I'm just wondering is there a database online somewhere that I can check the serial number to verify what I think it is before buying replacement decals? Or can I go with my confidence in the history and just stick the stickers on?
