Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Better Fred than dead! Go for it, who cares what anybody thinks anyway. Ride your bike, it's not a fashion show. I wear a helmet, I don't care what that looks like either, I just don't want to bounce my skull directly off the pavement when I crash. YMMV

The Helcap!

It's technically for motorcyclists, but I think there is some crossover here.

So, basically it's a "baseball cap" and a helmet all in one!

Available on Amazon for $84.99 + shipping!

https://www.amazon.com/Helcap-Motorcy.../dp/B00IO4SU7E

It has one glowing 3 star review!

Now that I'm thinking about it, in the 70s before the Great Helmet Scare began to dictate politically correct headwear, my buddies and I usually wore what we called "Driving Caps" (I think AKA "Flat Cap") when dodging traffic with our 10 speeds in Chicago. I had a wool one for the cooler weather and a cotton one for summer. They are actually quite good for this purpose as they don't fly off easily at speed.

Is the OP wearing a regular baseball cap, one with a bill that looks like somebody stuck a baseball in it and wrapped it with a belt and slung under the mattress or one of the baseball caps with the perfectly flat bills?

OP, if you wear everything else skin tight and you must keep your hair down, why not wear a skull cap? Or do you really need the brim?

It has a big hole in it, is that normal for tubular tires?

I think they're all acting up for the camera shot. Surely JB (I know it's actually a team name) can ride without two people keeping him stable.

That's his left goggle. Not sure why 2 sets of googles for him. One clear, one tinted, maybe.

I support you!!! Although I never cycle without a helmet myself. But I believe... anyone who thinks their brains aren't worth the hassle of a little protection probability understands their situation better than anyone else.

Only by those who are insecure about their own cycling attire.

I have done it many times, I couldn't care less what the wanna be's think, if it keeps the sun from cooking the bald patch on my head, it works for me.

Who are these wannabes and why are they so possessive?

I don't pay attention to other riders' helmets- brands or styles- why should a hat matter? The road cyclists that give me a hard time for my not wearing a helmet are the same ones that I scold for not using lights where conditions call for them.
Cmon, u are kidding about the backwards baseball hat part, right? People don't use a baseball hat backwards for purposes like that. To protect the neck from the sun during a sunset? Nobody is worried about getting sunburt while the sun is going down when the uv intensity is at its lowest, and people surely dont intentionally put their hat on backwards because they care that much to protect the back of their neck (of all places). And ventilation/aerodynamics, really? Stop with the excuses dude. The best ventilation is to wear no hat at all....duh. There is absolutely no practicality in a backward baseball hat. It is only needed to be put backward to relieve a temporary obstruction for those who regularly wear hats, performing something that causes the bill to get in their way during the task at hand.

To actually try and convince people why u use it is an insult to my intelligence..... and anyone else who is intelligent enough to sense your bs
