Better Fred than dead! Go for it, who cares what anybody thinks anyway. Ride your bike, it's not a fashion show. I wear a helmet, I don't care what that looks like either, I just don't want to bounce my skull directly off the pavement when I crash. YMMV

I have the solution to this problem (this is a problem right?).
The Helcap!
It's technically for motorcyclists, but I think there is some crossover here.
So, basically it's a "baseball cap" and a helmet all in one!
Available on Amazon for $84.99 + shipping!
https://www.amazon.com/Helcap-Motorcy.../dp/B00IO4SU7E
It has one glowing 3 star review!

Now that I'm thinking about it, in the 70s before the Great Helmet Scare began to dictate politically correct headwear, my buddies and I usually wore what we called "Driving Caps" (I think AKA "Flat Cap") when dodging traffic with our 10 speeds in Chicago. I had a wool one for the cooler weather and a cotton one for summer. They are actually quite good for this purpose as they don't fly off easily at speed.

Is the OP wearing a regular baseball cap, one with a bill that looks like somebody stuck a baseball in it and wrapped it with a belt and slung under the mattress or one of the baseball caps with the perfectly flat bills?

I have to ask, what are those straps everyone has? Backpack, spare tube, oxygen hose?
Why is that one guy in the middle hunkered down like a time trial when everyone else is sitting up like a social ride?
And what is the other guy hold up in the air? Why can't JB Louvet ride steady and hold his own cigarette? Is this one of those phony stages they have at the end and the winner is already decided? Is the shot posed for the camera?
And I can't tell, do any of them have their cap on backwards?

OP, if you wear everything else skin tight and you must keep your hair down, why not wear a skull cap? Or do you really need the brim?

I think they're all acting up for the camera shot. Surely JB (I know it's actually a team name) can ride without two people keeping him stable.

Except for the funny inconsistencies ... it's iconic but the whole posing nature of it strikes me as funny.
Anyway the most important question hasn't been answered. Can you spot any back-brimmed hats in there?

Still kicking.
Just went through all 7 pages... Still trying to make sense of it...

Hi, I bike a lot on a paved bike path just down the street from me. I don't like to wear a helmet due to being uncomfortable, bulky and unsightly(IMO) and I don't want my hair being windblown into an Einstein look so I thought a backwards baseball cap would be a good idea to hold hair and maintain some aerodynamics while looking sporty at the same time. Will I get mocked and laughed at, what is your thought on the matter, any one else do the same?
I have done it many times, I couldn't care less what the wanna be's think, if it keeps the sun from cooking the bald patch on my head, it works for me.

Cmon dude
Baseball cap is my preferred headgear to ride in, though I also rock a helmet and/or cycling cap or neither, more often. Backwards offers sun protection on the back of the neck and some aerodynamics/ventilation up front. It really is comfortable and practical when riding with the sun setting behind you.
I don't pay attention to other riders' helmets- brands or styles- why should a hat matter? The road cyclists that give me a hard time for my not wearing a helmet are the same ones that I scold for not using lights where conditions call for them.

To actually try and convince people why u use it is an insult to my intelligence..... and anyone else who is intelligent enough to sense your bs
