Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Backwards Baseball Cap, will it make me look like a ******?

Hi, I bike a lot on a paved bike path just down the street from me. I don't like to wear a helmet due to being uncomfortable, bulky and unsightly(IMO) and I don't want my hair being windblown into an Einstein look so I thought a backwards baseball cap would be a good idea to hold hair and maintain some aerodynamics while looking sporty at the same time. Will I get mocked and laughed at, what is your thought on the matter, any one else do the same?

Buy a good helmet and take a few minutes to adjust it properly.
Scrambled brains are worse than Einstein hair.
If you must wear a hat get a cycling cap.

I'm not worried about scrambled brains, I only ride paths(no steep hills or extreme speeds).

I would never wear a cycling hat, you might as well put a little propeller on top of it.

No, it doesn't matter, I wear a backwards baseball cap all the time.

Seriously, who cares? Just do what you like!

An Oakley Baseball Cap, not a flat brimmed gangster hat.

As if no one ever had a collision with a dog, pedestrian, or cyclist on a path?

Wear about 3 polo shirts with popped collars to complete the bro look.

Collisions with those objects break your fall.

P.S. I treat others on the path with the same courtesy as fellow drivers on the road.

If you are going all in you must complete the look by wearing some Beats head phones and blasting your music while zig zagging down the path staring at your phone oblivious to anyone and/or anything else.

I only ride paths (no steep hills or extreme speeds).
Just a 5 mph impact with a hard fixed object can cause a concussion and as little as 10 mph can cause a skull fracture. Bicycle aren't primarily designed to withstand 35-40+ mph impacts from crashes at "extreme speeds", they are designed to absorb and redistribute force in low to moderate speed accidents which account for far more cycling head injuries.

Wear a helmet or don't, your choice, but don't be complacent about the potential for head injury just because you don't ride in traffic or race on winding downhill roads.

If ****** spells d-o-u-c-h-e then I'm going to have to go with yes. Very frat boy.

It's possible you're a troll, but I'm going to say ok despite the fact that we all grew up without them (well I don't know how old you are) just wear a helmet, almost everybody does and it doesn't look weird anymore. Occasionally when I've forgotten mine while doing a little neighborhood ride I just continue on my way bareheaded, but helmets can help prevent brain scrambling.

Never understood the backwards baseball cap. Are people too stupid to figure out that the bill goes in the front to keep the sun out of our eyes?
