Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Just a few miles kind of sucks though.

But, I agree. Sometimes taking it easy is the best plan.

I went for a ride and for the third time I have gotten a flat within a few miles from home. First time I blamed the rotten Conti 4000s', next time I figured I pinched it as I had it off between rides. This time, I really looked. Hairline crack in the rim, and I must have to hit a bump just right, as each time I have gotten a flat, I continued on with no issue. Today, I went straight home.

I'm painting the porch instead.

Good plan. You'll want to get the painting done before the first snowfall.

Oh, wait.

Race today up in PA near Lancaster. It started raining as we rolled out and stopped when we finished, it was chilly and the roads featured plenty of wet slippery horse poo (much of which is now on my kit and bike).

I had a great time.

Ponys are nice and all, but I would rather the PA Amish community would adopt this sort of poo free transport...

Stoney, when you were on the old hip, I suggested riding. On the new hip, I wouldn't.

I am not riding now either, chest/ribs pain, and I tried to push through it last week and it just sucked. Some pains are good and can be ridden through, some can't. I could be wrong, but I think sometimes HTFU is about being hard enough to NOT ride, even though your soul wants to.

I know that ride, only it was more farmland/cow poo. New Years Day Century was just that. It wasn't a race, so you get more points, Herbie.

That was a line from a classic Seinfeld episode. Lester's post instantly brought it to mind. lol

What part of 'relax and stay off the bike a minute' are you guys struggling with?

Listen, PM me and I'll provide detailed instructions, including some classified pro tips. It's easy, really. No charge for bona fide addictionites.

Not the lurkers, though . . . one must have at least 4 posts in this month to qualify.

Don't forget to include the rest of the walking wounded gimp squad, Pcad and LAJ. And now RUOkie.
