Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

We're home and just had pizza. With waits for layovers at the airports and the flights... it was about 40 hours for the journey. The Bike Friday's seemed to have survived the trip quite well, although the suitcases maybe not so much. They were cheap disposable. But now we have a better appreciation for the whole BF concept, we'll save our pennies and buy the fully-fledged Samsonite models.

There might be one tiny little hitch, however. When browsing the Virgin magazine on the last leg of the trip, I noticed that the maximum dimensions (L + W + D) were reduced from 60 inches to 56 inches. That does throw up some challenges, and I suspect that the 56-inch measurement will become the new standard.

Is that him? He's a lot younger and skinnier than I expected for an ex-firefighter.
