Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Upgrade Opinion

Looking to upgrade chainring, going from 50/34 to 52/38 or 36 not sure yet. Thinking about Rotor Q Rings or Praxis. Suggestions please.

Why is that an upgrade? What are you trying to accomplish? What do you have now?

Praxis rings are very highly regarded by the people around here... kind of pricey though.

Other than that, I agree with rms13

Upgrade is wrong choice of words. I am changing from a 50/34 to a 52/36 and I am considering rotor q ring and praxis rings. Opinions appreciated.

Many, many factors to consider. what type of terrain, what is the rear cogset 11/21 11/28? If you have the leg strength, endurance and speed to turn them over and go...then good upgrade...otherwise consider the rear, that will have more impact on your performance....

I think that maybe the OP isn't asking "should I change to a mid-compact", but asking "given that I'm GOING to change to a mid-compact, what do you think of these chainrinrings?"

I don't have a clue on the latter question, but I think that's the one at issue.
