Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I hardly think I've dragged down a pictures thread. oldnslow2 voiced his opinion that he could feel the difference and I made a joke in a response that most certainly got you all worked up.

Then you decided to call me passive aggressive.

Wheelset

I really like your Wheelset Garysol.
I have a 2015 roubaix with the axis 2.0 Wheelset right now. I can't afford zipp etc. wheels but have been looking at the Mavic cosmic elite wheels and the Mavic ksyrium elite wheels but can't decide. I'm looking for the same look as you and I want a lighter and stiffer Wheelset without breaking the bank. I just ride with friends for fitness etc

I would also take a good hard look at the Fulcrum Racing 3 wheelset. Its a nice light and stiff wheelset without the Mavic's legendary poor customer service. It is also hard to beat a nice pair of handbuilt wheels. Take a look at Custom Bicycle Wheels - Hand Built Carbon and Aluminum Wheels - PSIMET : PSIMET Custom Wheels and Boyd Cycling. There are lots and lots of good wheelsets to choose from.

I've looked at the Ultegra 6800 wheelsets also. They seem nice and inexpensive

Rode to Sagamore Hill to sit on TR's porch.

https://www.strava.com/activities/627643101

Learned that the morning after a hard rain, a lot of sand and debris gets washed onto the road from the soft shoulders. Mt. Misery was a mess with lots of sand and dead branches. Sweet Hollow also has plenty of sand and the damp surface and shade made it difficult to see potholes.

Black on Black (Bethpage Black)

This is what Long island is all about

Sagamore Hill before the tourists arrive.

My favorite spot at the Massapequa Preserve

It was clean when i left

Hello,

I am on the right thread as I am looking to buy the Emonda SLR 6.

My local LBS says the Emonda SLR 6 is on sale for $4.5K(down from $5.5K) and they say it cost around $1.2k to upgrade to Di2. The only thing is the fire red color.

Is this OK deal?

The bike is on sale for $4500 nationwide. I still think (as mentioned in the Domane thread) that you're not getting any favors on the Di2 upgrade. Especially considering you already have the crankset and brakes. Do you get to keep the mechanical stuff or are they keeping it? Will that include all installation labor (the $1200 price)?

I went to my LBS today and get a quote on the Emonda with the Di2. It comes up to 6K with tax.

He said they dont charge labor and I get to keep the parts they take off and I can sell it. I see on the list I can sell the front and back dellierer, shifter.

Your opinions?

The sale price on the SLR8 with mechanical DuraAce is $5999.00 so yea, 6k for Di2 is a good deal.

Love that "new bike smell"

Love this bike. I've always been a Trek guy going back to when they bought Klein. So when it was time to replace the 2013 Madone I went and saw my buds at Trek Bikes of Boca Raton and they set me up with a really sweet deal on a Emonda SL6. They didn't have the wheels I wanted in stock so I have to wait about 10 days. I went ahead with this model since I knew Trek would be changing the color schemes for 2017 and this time I wanted a bike in a color that I like. The matte red would have been my first choice but I think it's only comes on the 48cm. I was going to leave the boring matte black all black with the tape and the cages but then Billy at Trek Boca made an awesome suggestion, loving this color scheme.

Great bike

Nice bike and tires. I have the exact same bike all black though with basic tires.
Question - Where can i find the free standing bike stand like the one in picture? I am storing my bike indoors with wall support for now, but your stand looks cool.
