Will 10 Speed become obsolete? How soon?

Life is pretty good in 10-speed land right now. I just picked up several years worth of 10-speed cassettes for half of regular mail-order prices. 10-speed chains too. Shops tell me that "you won't be able to get those old parts for long". Ha ..I can still find great quality 7 speed gear on Ebay in seconds. I am looking at a stash of new in the box HG91 7-speed chains that I got for a song. High-end stuff.
For all of the gullible early adopters out there: Thank you. The extreme prices you pay for the new shiny baubles allows me to pick up the last generation of stuff at firesale prices. This subsidizes my daily ride.
So do not buy the planned obsolescence song and dance from the industry. And when you're shopping for a new ride, make sure that you provide the feedback that 11-speed is an insult to your intelligence. Disc brakes for road bikes too.

You know, I personally think Disc Brakes are overkill, as I've been able to stop. Same goes for 11 speed. I've been doing fine on 7-10. Hell, I've gone fixie for years in the city.
That said, I can't help but wonder if you gave out the same speech back when 9 speed was being transitioned into 10. Or if we will hear it again when it goes from 11 to 12.
Me, I think we should encourage folks to buy disc and WiFi Carbon 45 speeds STI's. Makes the stuff I use cheaper.
Go crazy, dudes. I heard Contador is using a 38 speed telepathic derailleur with a Carbon engine in the back hub for those krazy grades in the Giro.

I was just now thinking that I should bite the bullet and upgrade to indexed shifting....
Now I've discovered that indexed downtube shifters seem to stop at 10S (Dura Ace SL-7900)
As far as disc brakes... If I ever transition to CF rims, I'd rather not be grinding brake pads against them. Even titanium discs would be an easy replacement vs a rim replacement.

Serious question. Are Dave Mayer and Fred Smedley the same guy, or are they cousins?
