I've put my Trek 4500 through hell and it loves it! I can only assume the 4300 frame is durable as well. Of course, it's JMHO.

I agree, just buy the best bike you can afford... just make sure you can afford it, that's the most important. And if things break, you can always replace them with higher end components!

Decent components, solid frame, it takes the abuse that I've given it (so far!) And we have some pretty mean trails around here.

Just a thought, but why not just buy a cheap pair of regular pedals for practicing wheelies and such? Since you say it'll be mostly at your house practicing wheelies, I wouldnt trade off the off-road...
