Sometimes it can be tight getting the new tyre on, so use the spoons the other way around to get them on, the only disadvantage i have found is the spoons or any metal tyre lever scratches your rim...

I'd stick to 100mm to be honest, maybe something like a pike if you want the travel adjustment, its very good and can be changed from 90mm to 140mm very strong and reliable from what ive heard.
