I hear you. I am indeed an engaged, 'spirited' driver. But this vehicle will also be used for commuting. and driving a standard in stop & go gets old fast. But, if I need a fix, my better half...

Thanks. Took a Mazda3 out for a drive two days ago. It's on the short list. My CX-5 has been plenty reliable, as was my 1980 Mazda GLC Sport (5-sp. manual) - my first car. :)

Thanks, Hank. What year GTI?

I've encountered the EcoHitch in my research. Big fan of the no-drill install.

Tried an Impreza ~4 years ago. I'm only 5'11", but have a disproportionately long torso, and it didn't have enough headroom.

I will double-check the specs, tho'. We drove a standard '99...

car to buy / avoid (Golf/GTI/Mini) ?

Greetings -

We're looking to replace our 2014 CX-5 with something smaller. Current candidates include the VW Golf (2016-18), VW GTI (2016-19) or a Cooper S 4-door (2016-19).

I'm wondering if...

Don't think you're weird. I've been using loose straps most of my life, and will likely stay with them for the years that remain. I wear whatever shoes (or winter boots) I feel like for my 10-mile...

My better half opined to me today that she wants her next bike to be black, w/ a skull & crossbones motif. All other considerations (aside from 'reach') are secondary. :)

This. Exactly.

When did bikes become so 'angled'?

Greetings -

I recently got reacquainted with riding this past summer after a ~5 year hiatus. Now I bike the 10 miles to work more often than not.

Taking my ('91 & '06) bikes in to the LBS to...

A 1990 Aquila Pavé (a boutique cyclo-cross(ish) bike) and a 2006 Trek 520.

Nope.

At 55, probably 15-30% off of my prime, depending on whether we're talking endurance, speed or climbing.
While...

recommend a COMFORTABLE touring bike? - pedals/stem

Bought the Trek 520 last night. [Yippee-ki-yay!!!]
(Got 20% off a 2006 model - and I rather preferred the green over 2007's black).

Many thanks to all for your input & suggestions.

Hmmm. Riding along (relatively leisurely) this p.m., I was passed by an elderly blur on a Raleigh 20 or something similar.

26" tires may be okay after all.

Ken -
Thanks. Indeed a nice bike, but at 21" or 23" sizing (which, * 2.54, comes in at 53.3 and 58.4), may not work well for me -- 54-55 tends to be my sweet spot.

But I will be trying a Bianchi Volpe 55 there later today.
Seems comparable to the Aurora.

YMMV.
