How do you log your rides?
Trying to find an easy way to keep track of my progress for each ride...
Distance, Time, Avg Speed, etc. I've been looking for an app on my Android, but have no convenient way to carry it on board while riding... it wont fit in my saddle bag, haven't seen a handlebar mount, don't wear a jersey (so no pockets)...
Just curious what you guys do to keep track of yourself. I'd like to see the improvement over time since I'm a noob.

Yep, and again, I'm a noob. And getting bikes for me, my wife, plus the tire pump, saddle bag, water bottles, cages, flat repair kits, shorts, etc. that I have bought in the past week is taking its toll. My ass hurts more from pulling my wallet out that it does from trying to get use to the saddle!!

Well, having spent thousands over the past years I wish I had invested in a Garmin long ago. It may be worthwhile waiting to make sure your really into it though.

I bought an inexpensive Cateye wireless computer then enter my miles into a spreadsheet and a couple websites: Bike Journal (to track vs. others) and Ticker Factory (for my signature).

www.bikejournal.com is what I use- I'm mainly interested in total miles, less so in average speed.

I used to use an excel spreadsheet before I got a Garmin. I tracked everything you mention plus weather and how I felt during the ride. Then I graphed what wanted to see trending for.

I use my HTC Incredible. I put it inside my saddle bag, my jersey or my tri short's side pockets. Currently use the MyTracks app and it's been pretty accurate. Except on a short, extremely steep incline ride (has a part where the grade is 23%) that lasted a little over a minute (it recorded that I went 31mph avg speed and over 1000 feet in elevation; I wish). My buddy's Garmin went psycho on that ride too, so... meh.
I also use my Cateye Double Wireless to double check the figures on the MyTracks and to keep an eye on cadence + current mph.

Get a used Edge 500 on eBay. Edge 500 is one of the better things I've bought. Just discovered strava.com as well for tracking. Finding Strava really neat so far, the segments feature is great.
Oh and they do have an iPhone app as well if you don't have a Garmin. But seriously, I don't know how I'd live without my Edge 500 now. Great little device.

Well I have a garmin fourunner since I am a runner but I actually do it the old fashion way. I have my running log book back to 1986 and each morning when I get up for morning prayer, the deacon writes down in a regular calendar type book....
1. Distance run or biked
2 Time and pace
3 the shoes I wore or bike I was road.
4 my weight
5 Any other old ball thing...lately it has been my crazy bowels that seem to like to find a way out about 3-4 miles into the run. Cycling does not seem to cause this problem
I do up load the date from my Garmin but, I have only used that the last 3 years I still rely on the "paper metho
It is intersting to go back and simply look at the piles of calendars that accumulate.

I bought a $20 armband from Target for my iPhone. I strap it to the bike and run an app by the name of Runtastic. It updates to their site (www.runtastic.com), which gives me everything I ever need (including creation of ride maps / tracks).
Only issue that I had was battery life, which they addressed in the latest release.

A Garmin with the free, opensource My Tourbook. Way better than the lame Garmin Connect. It takes a while to learn how to use all the features, though.
This screen shot shows totals by ride and totals by month and year. Date, miles, elevation gain, average speed, ride time and stopped time.
A zoomable map with the route color coded by speed or by elevation, or heart rate.
Zoomable graphs of elevation (green), speed (blue) Or show heart rate, elevation feet/hour, cadence, etc.

+ Strava too, just for the social aspect/ roasting / comparisons amongst others in the local racing scene. Who doesn't like to be KOM?
