Platforms for spd pedals

So, I've got Shimano 540 spd pedals on my commuter. Thinking it might be nice to get some platforms to attach to allow me to wear boots in winter. Do you have anything to recommend? Alternative is to just swap out for platform pedals, but I'd rather not, as I'd like to use spd shoes except in really bad weather.

I have a pair of Shimano platforms on one bike and A530--SPD/platform pedals on another. The adapters have worked without problems, they could be the cheap way if you already have SPD pedals. The A530s are quite slick on the platform side in wet weather, the platform adapters are better in foul weather. I haven't had the platforms very long and have only used them on one short wet trip so I don't have a lot of time on them.

Problem Solvers makes aluminum platforms for SPDs. They look like they would grip better wet than the A530 although any gloss finished pedal will probably be slippery.

Check your LBS, mine have some plastic platforms that are used for test rides on SPD equiped bikes. They may have a spare set they are willing to part with.

of the Idea of Decksters, a plate of aluminum diamond deck plate. with bolt holes for cleat bolts

Spare cleat + the equivalent of pontoons, underneath, to stabilize the plate.
like pocket edges of the Spud shoes..

to make it better than the one QBP sells, make it bigger, and drill and tap it for a bunch of little setscrews

.. to serve as traction grip-pins to keep your rubber boot-soles from slipping.

the plastic ones may not be best in the shoe grip criteria .. but are readymade. & cheap.
