Ergons have been the best so far for me. I have them on all my commuter bikes and my Brompton. My wife also has cork Ergons on her Brompton. What is nice is they come in different sizes so she has the smalls which fit her hands very well.

Yup, pretty much Ergons. There are a lot of Ergon-esque grips on the market now but I don't see any reason to use anything but the original. As another poster mentioned, the smaller size can make for a better fit.

Personally, I'm not a fan of the Ergon grips. I'm also not a fan of many rubber grips out there. I still use Grab-on grips on all my mountain bikes. I haven't found anything more comfortable.

I had ergo style grips on my bike and grew to really dislike them.
As I changed positions from long climbs to downhills to in the city, my weight shifts on the bars and they would spin out of position. I was constantly trying to spin them into a comfortable tilt.
So I went with just a basic set of round grips from Bontrager and I've been happy. YMMV

another big fan of ergon grips here, i've got ergons on both of my flat bar bikes.
i will never use anything other than ergon grips on any flat bar bike i own, they're just so comfortable.

The ergon grips reportedly require a torque wrench to install - I've read lots of posts about threads getting stripped during installation. That is the main reason I don't have Ergon GP5s yet - if you throw in the cost of a good torque wrench the cost becomes more than I am comfortable spending. To all those who use Ergon grips - did you install them with a torque wrench or a regular wrench?

they dont require a torque wrench , but for those who dont have any sense of how much tension a bolt
threaded into aluminum will take before it stops slipping , but before you strip it out ..
they are marked in Nm .. marked on mine, the GR3 is 7, the GR 5 is 8 .
Being a mechanic on bikes for a Long time, I didn't need a torque wrench..
stripping suggests someone over did the tightening ..

i've never bothered with a torque wrench when installing my ergon grips. i just used regular common sense, tight enough to hold, but not too tight.
of the 3 pairs of ergon grips i've had over the years, none have ever slipped or stripped on me.
