No, there is no such model, but there is such a bike. Three weeks ago while we were at the movie our house burned. Fire took out the upstairs bathroom, part of our bedroom and 3/4 of the roof trusses. Smoke and water destroyed the rest. Most of my bikes survived. The '91 Schwinn PDG Series 70 had the paint scorched, and the Aegis Aro Svelte next to it was deemed too big a risk to keep, so it was written off. I've been away from posting to BF these three weeks, but I've been monitoring CL and Ebay for a fast road bike. Today a 56cm Team Miyata popped up through dailylister. I called about it, had a great conversation. We talked about shipping, which was verbotten in the CL add but amenable to the seller when we spoke on the phone. Turns out he has a friend headed to MN for spring break who will probably be happy to bring the bike with him. Game, set, match. I should have my Miyata Phoenix before the snow melts.

So sorry to hear of the fire- I'm glad you and your family is OK. Everything can be replaced except them.
Best wishes.
Best wishes.

I'm so sorry for your troubles, but am glad no one was hurt and that it's replaceable STUFF. Congrats on the team! Those are hard to find and well regarded; not the lightest frames, but stiff and agile.

Sorry to hear about the fire loss, but like Aaron said, that's just stuff. Great to hear about the Miyata gain!

Thanks for the good wishes, everyone. While we were at the movie our dog was with my wife's sister. Thank God. Our cat didn't make it.
I was just at the house this morning picking up the bikes that made it (have to add my son's red 1987 Schwinn Sierra to the list of bikes that did not make it). what a bizarre, bizarre time. Very disorienting. Many silver lining s, however. Chief among them is how kind ane generous everyone has been. For those who might be interested, this is a link to an article I wrote to thank the praise and firefighters who were at the scene. https://www.presspubs.com/quad/opinio...9bb2963f4.html
I am very excited about the Team Miyata. In a crazy coincidence, I bought the bike last night from a guy south of Dallas (who ran an and that almost screamed NO SHIPPING, but he's been fabulous). His riding buddy, a school teacher, headed up to Minnesota this morning for spring break... with my bike in his car. I'm not crazy about the technomic stem, so I will keep an eye out for a replacement. If anyone has or hears of a high end Miyata stem please let me know.
Another crazy thing. I've been is the market for an 80s Schwinn Cimarron. Saw one on CL today in Atlanta for $50. Called the seller and he's amenable to having someone facilitate a pick and ship. Any of y'all from down that way?
Lastly, our insurance co. is being very good. You always worry about that. I know I did. But I have no complaints.
Thanks, all, for the thoughts and prayers. It means a lot.

That's a very nice comment about your community- and of yourself and your attitude in the face of this.

Yep. Been a pastor now for 23 years. I'm one of those lucky folks who love what I do because it's who I am.

I know people mean well when they say the stuff can be replaced, but I have been on enough fire scenes to know that when a person loses their home, it has a huge emotional impact on their life. It is not just the stuff, but the memories that all the stuff represents, as well as the memories of events that occurred in the home. People are really appreciative when we can find some pictures or keepsakes in the debris and take them outside for safe keeping. It makes the pain just a little bit less when they have something that survived the fire to remind them of times past. Your fire department sounds like one that I would be proud to be a member of.
I am glad your family is safe and that you didn't lose everything. Best wishes to you as you rebuild your home and get everything back to normal.

Same here. Good luck with getting things back in order.

Revcp - I am very sorry for your losses, and particularly for that of your pet. I would echo Pompiere's and the other's sentiments here.
May normalcy soon return to your life, and the physical and emotional impact of that fire soon be no more than a mere footnote.
