Man, I was just waiting for the next BD.com post to be made. I was beginning to think I wouldn't get through my workout tomorrow without it.

CC declination isn't at all uncommon. I've swiped numerous cards that get rejected, but work when I punch in the numbers manually. Depends on many things, including the clearing house etc. Often institutions providing cards put a single-charge or day limit on the cards without bothering to tell the cardholder.
Slamming Bikes Direct for this is right at the outer edge of ignorant.

never been an issue in all the years I have had this card. It's on their end and the checkout process is on the cheezy side.
and the ignorant comment....well, that's rich considering I didn't see a CONTACT number to resolve the problem.

They do not have a phone number. Everyone just friggen accept that. Nor does Amazon. Welcome to modern internet sales.
Is that ideal in cases like this? No.
Is it acceptable based on their pricing and business model? Yes it is. I was fine with this when I made I bought from them. I had a CC question and it took part of a business day to answer. Such is life. I have a bike that I love at $1500 that could not have been touched by my LBS'.
Like I always say - a LBS is a great way to go. It is a better way if you need everything answered now and want a high comfort level. They would have someone to help you with a CC in a second.
Just pros and cons.
Did you call your bank to see why it was declined? In the end, the bank makes that call. It could be that something was wrong (zip code) or the amount was such that it caused an issue. Costco could not take my debit card for my kids playset . . . turns out my debit card has a PIN based limit of $1200. Was this costco's fault? No. Could they even explain it to me? No. My bank could as soon as I asked.

BD will also not accept a CC issued from Canadian bank... CHEESY CHECKOUT... I agree.. sure seems a little bush league...
nowadays.....not accepting a CC from a Nigerian bank I understand.... but there should be no issues taking one from a bank from the Dominion of Canada.

For a $300 steel bike you can't really beat it. It'll never see the track anyway.

Rutnick - I want to be clear i am not attacking you.
Did you call your bank?
BD.com's site successfully takes credit cards or they would not be in business. That does not mean they did not screw something up on yours . . . I am just saying.
In the end, the CC company says yes or no, not BD.com. there could be a totally reasonable reason why this happened that would put none of the blame on BD.com. Of course, BD.com could have messed something up and it is 100% on them.
If having to call your bank or wait a day turns you off to BD.com I respect that - you are the consumer and that is all that matters. I would say that to me a $1500 purchase that will take several days to get to me anyway is worth a little wait and effort. That is just me.

What makes you so sure it's on the BD end and not the bank's or the network's? Did you call the bank to see if they had some kind of flag go up? Did you call the network company to see if they had a flag or a glitch?
I had a card declined because I did a lot of travelling in one week, and it threw a flag when the same credit card was getting charges in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Buttonwillow, and Fresno in a matter of days. I called the number on the back of the card and they verified that I had made the purchases and let me proceed with the pending transaction.
As a former cashier, it's amazing how many people argue like they know everything when they don't even know how the system works. Had a guy YELL at me that I didn't need to call Visa when my register said "call for authorization" saying that it had over $8000 available and that he was sure nobody had stolen his number. When I called, they asked to speak to him and he found out somebody had bought a few computers and he had less than $1000 left. Funny thing is, he still acted as if it was MY fault. lol
Sorry BD doesn't have a service phone number for you to call (that's something you have to consider before placing an order), but unless you already called the number on your credit card and asked about that SPECIFIC transaction, you are indeed ignorant. Sorry but it's true.
