Casually Deliberate
Yesterday, I was walking by Sporting Goods and their phone was ringing. The associate for that department was showing knives to a customer so I answered it. Usually there's some hemming and hawing and the person goes all the way around the barn before spitting out what they want. Not this time, baby. I said "Sporting Goods."
The woman said "I actually want something from Housewares but they sent me to you because no one answered and what I want is a vajetty."
I said "Excuse me?"
She said "A vajetty. I'm looking for a vajetty."
I said "What is that exactly?" She was speaking very seriously about it so I was trying to also even though it was difficult.
She said "You use it to turn zucchini and other vegetables into kind of like pasta." I thought this was kind of a dopey idea but I said I'd go look. Turns out, it's called a Veggetti, it's found in the "As Seen On TV" section and it appears to do just as this woman says. I told her all of that and she was very happy and said "Thank you very much." But I still can't help thinking it sounds more like the name of a sexual weapon.
Here's one of the shorter reviews. (For some reason, most of them are upwards of 6 minutes. I guess people get excited about their "spiralized" veggies.) Her eyebrows are definitely not on fleek but try not to let that distract you.

They also make C6 Vettes in a Z06 version (505 hp) and a ZR1 (635 hp). But the plain jane stock C6 with 400 hp in a car that only weighs 3179 is much faster than any car 99% of you will ever drive. It's ridiculous.

Also, you anti-doping vigilantes should try thinking out of the box.

Had some company on my ride today. Our very own @RollCNY came down to the Hudson Valley and we grabbed the opportunity to do a ride together.
I was anxious to humble him and his SS steed on our grueling HV hills in this neck of the woods.
Before getting serious, though, we both took a minute to check our stocks and make some adjustments. You know, priorities.
He tried to pull away from me on the flats, but as usual I just reeled him right in. You can see here "the Masher" is a little low on gas, looking over his shoulder in despair.
Here we are on the Hudson River Walkway, with the Mid-Hudson Bridge in the background.
In all seriousness we had a very nice and leisurely ride, the only kind I'm capable of this time of the season. Roll was kind enough to have mercy on me . . . he could have crushed me any time he wanted . . . you know, kind of like a cat toying with a mouse.
It was great to get to know Roll in person, and I'm looking forward to our next ride opportunity. We had a fun good day.

...perhaps I should be more direct in my advice. Here is a parable:
Once upon a time, a bicycle cycle ryder in California, who had many, many bicycles (because he loved and cherished them), rode a lot on Specialized tyres. He knew that Specialized Bicycle Components, Inc was an evil company, run by the Anti-Chryst, but he was tyght with a buck, and had pretty good luck with their tyres for a long tyme. Then, in a short but memorable tyme he experienced several fabric separation related blowouts whyle ryding on his bicycle cycles.
He stopped buying his tyres from Specialized, and there was peace and prosperity throughout the kingdom of California, except for the drought. The end.

I'm with you today. I'm tired, sore and generally beat up. First it was a viral infection last weekend and then the group rides are really ramping up as everyone finds their form. I'm tired and am going to try to hide in the back all day. In fact, I wouldn't go if it wasn't for my wife wanting to go.

I bit the bullet on a "used" 2014 Fuji Track singlespeed for my daughter. Apparently some guy bought it and decided he wanted gears so traded it in to Erik's for almost nothing even though they put so few miles on it they didn't even wear the mold line off the center of the stock tires.
So, $280 later I got this bad boy for my daughter!
...now I'm going to go check out the ultegra thread and see if I helped push it over the edge.
